I’m pretty happy with the Malossi variator with 6.5 grams rollers and a white Polini spring ,it runs 8000-8100 rpm . I also use the Polini speed exhaust with stock jetting with a max temp of 325. I also have Malossi 72cc sport kit and Yasuni Z pipe as soon as I get time to install the mods.

If you make up your mind up with the Polini/Malossi exhaust it will fit but be prepared to manipulate it to install. The scooter works exhaust bolts right up but performance is lower at least with 50cc. Hope this helps

Snows had to heat and bend the polini mounting bracket with the polini exhaust they were a few mm off. The mounting bracket for the polini to the Malossi are either a little different or Snows was built on a friday after the crew had a liquid lunch. For my malossi one I did not have to bend anything I just used a dremel to enlarge a mounting hole .
Clutch springs I use the polini greens for my street pipes
Variator weights It is better to have a extra set of weights to dial in what you like best you might . if you get the 5.6 and 6.7
take notes for each set measure top speed by gps and make note of how revvy /responsive it feels . Take the fastest one that is most responsive .
run them like this all 6.7 6.7,5.6,6.7,5.6,6.7,5.6 this way your variator stays in balance all 5.6
After those 3 choices you will find 1 or 2 that is best . If it is the mismatched one you know you need to be closer to 6 grams .

So I just went to place the order for the polini variator and the extra weights to try and realized they are on back order but they have Athena brand weights, can anyone confirm if those will work with the polini variator they are 16x13 like the polini ones.

If you have the budget buy the matching polini drive face for your variator .
Skip all the belt options the Stock belt works real well with the aftermarket variators for belt travel and wear.

And also for when I get the new variator how do you guys remove yours? Do you need a tool to hold the pulley or does a impact work?

For the clutch I bought this tool . For taking off the bell . Same as the variator I mark the clutch nuts with a marker from the inside of shaft to outside of nut So i can see at a glance it is torqued tight enough. a few raps on the cement will snug it up or take off the clutch nut

Got the polini speed variator and got it all installed, I tried both the 5.5g, 6.7g weights and a mix of both like someone suggested it seems to run best with the 6.7g weights. With the other ones it seemed to rev higher but go slower. And the 6.7’s it seems to be the fastest but doesn’t seem to make any difference compared to the stock variator. My scooter can get up 60km/h pretty quick but then it takes forever to get from 60 to 70 at wide open throttle. Any ideas? I thought with the bbk and better variator it would have me going a bit faster. Or is this about right? I changed the torque spring in the clutch to the polini speed one and noticed the clutch pads look pretty worn out, do you guys think I would benefit from a new clutch?

So you know that your scoot like the heavier weights with that set up By your But Dyno and speed runs Lets see how much of top gear your using Take a sharpie mark edge to edge Run down the road full blast and measure how much is left on the outer edge and inner edge The inner edge should be under 2mm Th outer edge you can get close to 2mm Shimming the drive boss might be needed so the variator closes enough Your top speed will wander for the last few kph because as you go faster you need more power to push through the wind.

Yes I would get the bigger jets and start with those installed For safety reasons, If you're replacing the small end bearing daring I would go with a high quality replacement like malik the replacement like malosi or such no such not a lot of extra money but will definitely definitely make your bike last longer the small end bearing has been a point of failure for me in the eat in the past especially with a 10 mm pin
