VIP Future Champion ( ATM50-A1) 2014.
My headlights are not working. The ATM50-A1 Manual shows the headlight on-off switch just above the starter button on the Right-hand grip. However, on my scooter the switch just above the starter button is a kill switch, not a headlight switch. The left grip has the usual high-low beam switch, but on on-off.
So, where is the on-off headlight switch on my scooter or is it supposed to be on anytime the key is on? Note: this scooter was purchased as non-running so I do not have a history with the controls.

The headlights will not run unless the engine is running. They would draw too much power to be run off the battery for any length of time. This is common on these types of scooters.
If I remember correctly, the VIP 50/CY50-A uses daytime running, so the low beam is always on, so the only control is the high beam. Also note that though there are two bulbs, and they are the type that have hi/low beam filaments, only one headlight is on at a time. One side for High, and the other for Low.

Thank you for the information. My scooter is not running at this time... I am waiting for a clutch torque spring. But, when I did have it running, I seem to remember the headlight was working at that time, but I was not sure I was remembering corrrectly. Thanks again.

Nope... got it running today. There is a switch on the left handlebar for high or low beam, just like a car. Also, both headlights are always on when on high beam, both on during low beam. Both of the headlight bulbs have two filaments, one for high beam and one for low beam.

Yeah, seems I was wrong. I could have sworn I once had a burned out high beam on one bulb, and had to swap the other bulb over so I could have a high beam to get me home as the low beam was pretty weak and useless.
However, I am remembering that people often modify the wiring to have both bulbs on. I never did that, since they burned out somewhat quickly for me (2016 model) so I wanted to always have one working light, and I thought the heat might get to high with both.
I did swap in 35w bulbs for the OEM 20 or 25w, and the single bulb on high got the headlight faring area quite warm on high. Plus I didn't trust the wiring and stator output to handle it.

If that is the factory setting, both bulbs lit at the same time, then the charging system should handle the electrical load and not run down the battery. If it was a modification, pay attention to battery charge as it is loading the system with more consumption of power and may not re-charge the battery as quickly or may run it low over time. Using two bulbs at the same time would use twice as much power. FWIW. tom
