Bought the title moped around this time last year. Been looking at parts to try to raise my average speed from 25 to... anything higher. Turns out there's no parts on the market! At least nothing for the fuel injected Kymco 50 4t anyway.
Anybody have any ideas? I don't want to spend money on a CDI box that might not work, and I can't seem to loosen the variator nut at all despite my best efforts. There's no screw limiting my throttle opening, and from what I can tell there's actually no spacer in the cvt limiting that at all. The dealer upsold me on the fuel injected bike, I had actually gone in for the agility 50 originally.
I would just upgrade to a real bike, been eyeing a Kawasaki klx300. But without an M license I'm sol and I can't very well go get it without a little help as I live in the middle of nowhere Virginia with no license or anything faster than my moped.
Anybody have any ideas? A CDI box or ECU maybe? Perhaps a whole injection system replacement that will actually fit?
Cheers, your local Raccoon.

IIRC, it’s got restrictions at the variator, exhaust, and CDI.
You’ll need an impact wrench for the variator nut. Instead of a washer, the variator boss itself might be slightly longer than an unrestricted.
Check with Scootertuning.ca about the CDI. They should be able to tell you if one will work.
With the exhaust, check that the opening of the header isn’t constricted, or that the exhaust gasket is t smaller than the exhaust port.

I took the seat off and found a few things ( imgur.com/a/P2GXL80 ), but none of them look like any kind of CDI for a carbureted bike. At least not from what I can tell. My next step is to get a new variator/rollers/derestricted boss and see if that helps at all. My bike is fuel injected so maybe it's a lot harder to make faster. Right now according to GPS I average about 25mph and the only thing I've done so far is take out a rubber washer from inside one of the airbox hoses. Variator rollers, exhaust, and a pod air filter are my next steps. After that I'll need to dig deeper into the web to find anything about the ECU/CDI modules to see if anything comes up. Btw do you happen to have an easy link to an unrestricted variator boss that would fit my moped? I can't seem to find one anywhere, they all say for either much older bikes or just the 2t versions.

The fuel injection computer controls everything. Be happy with what you have. A pod filter etc will really screw it up.

The point of my coming here was to ask for help with derestricting my bike, not for someone to tell me I shouldn't work on my own vehicle. Thanks for trying to keep me going at a very dangerous 25mph on the 55mph road I have to drive on 20 minutes a day for work, but I think I will continue to look for derestrictions I can do on it to make myself faster and therefore safer on the road.

No one said that you shouldn’t work on your bike. But because it’s fuel injected, the systems are more closely tied together. That means overcoming the main computer will take more than if it were a carbureted bike. But there are going to be limits on what you can squeeze out of a 50cc bike without strapping a BBK on.

Piss off. Hey JHJHillBilly, this is what I'm talking about. Straight up rude and unhelpful. Why even bother commenting here if you're just going to be like this. Children should not have internet access.

Chill out fellas. I think Frankenmech was trying to be helpful by warning you that some mods (that alter air/fuel) are not simple on a fuel injected scoot. Nothing wrong with removing restrictions, but you could be in for headaches going much farther. Some EFI setups can deal with mods pretty well and some can't. I'd stick with the list that Hillbilly has provided first and see how it goes once that's all checked and/or remedied. 25MPH is quite slow, so it should have more in it without major modifications like a big bore kit. I've read that they are good for 30-35MPH cruise speeds with RPM restriction removed and a Malossi variator. That's pretty typical of many stock 49cc 4Ts.
If you won't be satisfied at that performance level, another scooter may be an easier option.

I've looked and looked and found absolutely nothing that would work for me. All the aftermarket CDI boxes look nothing like what I have on my bike anywhere. And yes he said I shouldn't mess with it too much but the way he said it, to me, sounded very condescending and rude.

All the aftermarket CDI boxes look nothing like what I have on my bike anywhere. These are on AliExpress. They are listed for 125 and 250cc Kymco scoots. Maybe the seller could be of assistance? I tried searching for the different numbers from the unit in your pic there, but had no luck. www.aliexpress.com/item/2251832608702357.htmlwww.aliexpress.com/item/2251832663130374.htmlEDIT : Those links don't want to work now. You can plug in those item #s or just search "Kymco Like 50i ECU" and they should come up. EDIT AGAIN : I just looked through the seller's items and there is an ECU that matches some numbers on yours. Link prob won't work so here is the item number as well. Down side is that you're looking at around $200 even direct from China and it doesn't actually say that it's unrestricted. I heard they can be found on AliExpress though, so it would at least be worth checking into farther if you are interested at that price point. However that third link is most likely just the stock one I already have so sadly that wouldn't help. The 125 version looks like it might work, but that's a matter of if it even fits, and then again if it does fit it might not be able to work with just a lowly 50cc and may either just not start or damage my engine. I have faith that something will eventually come up for me but sadly those 3 things won't work for me. Thank you so much for looking though, I really appreciate the effort.
