Hey guys so i'm trying to think of ideas to prevent thiefes to steal my bike and i came up with 2 ideas which i'd love to hear your thoughts about it and how to make it work. so my scooter is a Sym joyride 125cc from the year 2011. 1. First idea was to put a switch with on and off for the fuel line, my bike has a fuel pump from tank to the carburetor and by putting a switch i can turn it off for the night with draining the fuel in the carb and of course hide the switch, good or bad idea? 2. iv'e seen toggle switches which you can add to wires and just press on and off so if the pulsar (blue yellow wire) should go through the cdi and coil until the spark plug sparks i can cut this wire, add and hide this switch and just turn it off for the night question is if it can make long term issues with the electricity of the bike or something else or do problems while riding ? i'm not the best at wiring too so advises on how to practically do it will be blessed ! so, i can always remove the battery and spark plug and kick start leg but i work on my scooter all day so i come home late night i just wanna press a switch and have a good and peacefull sleep, of course its only 50% preventions since scooters can be lifted to a truck but where i park they will need at least 5 Arnolds to lift it up so i'm good.

Any of the above will help, but a disc lock is a must have and use, gone in 5 seconds if they can push the scoot away. The best solution is a big heavy chain and a ground anchor,be vigilant and dedicated to securing your scoot.

My mates Yamaha R1 sportsbike got lifted into a van by two big guys who stole it. It's much easier to steal than you think. Like Geoff said best thing is securing it to something. My wife's scooter had the ignition and steering lock smashed before they realised it was chained up. They are probably going to push it to somewhere quite to work on it. So it will already be gone by the time they work out if wont start.

Geoff This ^^^ I have had two scooters stolen, including one that wasn't running --it didn't even have a carb. Things need to be bolted down, and made physically and visibly harder and less attractive to be stolen.

Thats what happens here in Holland all the time with motorcycles, vespa scooters and e-bikes. They roll up in a van and just lift it in there. It's a 10sec operation. Bike gone!
Get a big fat chain lock, it will turn away their attention to something thats easier to steal.

so just a quick update, i've installed the toggle switch and it works great, i just cut in two the blue yellow wire that comes from stator and connected a toggle switch, i didn't put an effort into hiding the button but to be honest my scooter is a pieace of shit i really don't think anyone would steal it, and really soon its going to trash anyway but its a cool feature to have anyways and also a good skill to acknowledge, i'll defintaly will do that to every vehicle i will own, you can be really creative for the hiding part if you put effort and it's a must since we all move with the scooter around and wouldn't have the big chain and disc lock on it always, at least not the chain, and really, if stator sends the signal for cdi to fire but switch is off it won't reach, and in the meantime what he actually does is floating the cylinder with gas so plug is wet even if he finds the switch. it's just about making his life miserbale and its fun. next today i will install the fuel line with his own switch, its a good thing to have even just for working on bikes, and preventing cylinder floating and just a nice thing to have.
mine doesn't have a chain but i'm covering it and it sits behind cars so its really difficult to lift it up.
i'm moving to france soon and i'm buying new scooter and new bmws1k i'll defeintaly order everything i need to secure them before even buying them, if you don't care about your bike it will be gone in a second totally agree.
