Hi My name is Seth,
I live in San Francisco and have a few 2 stroke scooters I work on and ride around town. I have a couple prebugs, a jog, an af18 swapped spree, an SR elite 50, and am working on swapping a piaggio motor into a morini powered suzuki address 50. I am in need of a bunch of parts and lots of knowledge about Piaggio.
Happy to learn more about these scoots and share what I know.

Sounds like some great scooters you have.
If you start a build thread, people can help you if you get stuck at some point.

Post up some pics of your collection.
What are your plans with the scoot engine wise? I think the hi-per2 engine across the pond uses some weird-ass carb for emissions. I thought i saw something like that in fortnine's video about scooters. Never seen those in real life, probably has something to do with american/canadian emissions law.

Most likely I will put an OKO carb on it and run a 70cc cylinder. I bought the cases from SSS just to see if I could make the swap happen. It looks pretty doable. The biggest struggle has just been finding the parts. Vespa et2 came to the US with that motor, but there just seem to be no parts anywhere. I will work on getting some pics together and make a build thread.

I have a Piaggio Typhoon, which I believe shares the ET2 motor. No weird carb, they come with a Del 17.5 stock. Post up what parts you are looking for in a build thread. Some of these guys hoard parts and might be able to help.

I will work on getting some pics together and make a build thread. Sounds good. Go with a Yasuni pipe for sure! A C16 or R. Those work out so good on piaggio engines! Those piaggio motors don't need much to make a very quick an fun bike. |

The ET2 Vespa used a short case motor for the 10" wheels the later typhoon and SR uses a longer case to fit the bigger wheels.
Some of the gears for the Zip for instance, won't fit the longer cases

Theres even the extra long case Gilera DNA motor. Those DNA's came with 14 inch wheels. Don't know much about those tho, only that they are longer than the regular piaggio motors and came with 14in wheels. Probably just a stretched regular long case.

I think there aren't too many around? Didn't like the majority of the scooters sold in the US with either Minarelli or Piaggio motor, was Minarelli? US had the Yamaha line-up which was all Minarelli. But Gilera and Piaggio-wise only the Vespa's right? |

If you haven't found them yet, check out AF1 Racing for parts. I don't have a Piaggio, but the RC-One is Piaggio based and requires some of their parts. ScooterTuning.Ca carries some of it, but AF1 has parts diagrams and has a lot. ScooterTuning has performance parts. They are in Canada, but their shipping prices are lower than a lot of US sources and stuff gets to me in a couple of days. www.af1racing.com/www.scootertuning.ca |
