What makes you get that feeling that you just NEED to get out and ride? Obviously for most it's whenever we install new parts on our rides. For me, it's kinda whenever ANYTHING changes haha!
I just cleaned the throttle body on my Honda Elite 110 as yesterday it threw some IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) codes at me. I noticed as when I was coming to a stop it wasn't engine braking like normal, and would idle at 2450... the ECU is set to idle at 1700. Strange.
So today first thing I do is pull the throttle body to inspect and the inside of the throttle body was DIRTY, like I had no air filter at all... strange as my air filter was present, dirty but not bad.
I cleaned the whole thing with mineral spirits that I had in a spray bottle, making sure to spray thru the idle circuit the best I could then blew everything with compressed air. I cleared the ECU with Honda's weird grounding procedure and it fired right up.
Throttle body was loose when I removed it, like it was easily rotating in the rubber - now it's nice and tight, clean, ready to ride!
I did all this for the first time, and it fired right up. That's such a good feeling 😁 and now to enjoy the fruits of my labor.
That's my "I need to ride" feeling for today.

Owning a high revving two-stroke gives me the need to ride feeling constantly. I live for that sound and feeling. It's good for the soul... though prob not great for the ears when they're ringing or flat after. The hard part there is that the higher they rev the less you can ride unless you can afford to constantly work on them, so I always wanna ride but try not to so much.
On the TMAX, I crave going to the swamps where the roads get twisty.
I don't need any certain event. If it's dry outside, I probably want to ride. Biggest challenge overall for me ATM is that I can't ride for long anymore because of my helmets. I've mentioned it before on the forum, but I've worn XXL HJC helmets basically exclusively since I started riding. Since my crash a few years ago, both XXL HJCs that I bought to replace the ruined one give me headaches. It's weird. They feel both loose and snug on my forehead. They'll find spots where they push against my forehead enough to make my eyes hurt, but yet they'll try to sag too. I was going to ride to the beach last weekend. Made it not even halfway before I was miserable. Had to stop and take the helmet off for a bit on a few occasions. A minute break helps, but not for long once it starts. It's worse on the TMAX than T2, but I think maybe because I'm going faster on the TMAX most of the time so it's pushing on the helmet more. I wanna take some longer rides bad, but the eye pain and headaches are pretty awful and they make me want to get off of the bike immediately. I should probably go to a store and try some stuff on, but all the stuff happening in the last few years hasn't really made me wanna go try on helmets. Something's gotta give, cause it sucks when the only thing stopping me from getting out longer is that.

So uhhh.... I ride without my helmet quite frequently. Too hot in the middle of summer here in Florida, makes me not wanna ride because of the long lights. Even have a modular to flip up the front but that's not enough...

So uhhh.... I ride without my helmet quite frequently. Too hot in the middle of summer here in Florida, makes me not wanna ride because of the long lights. Even have a modular to flip up the front but that's not enough... I can't do it. We have a helmet law, but that's not why. I've never had any idea when an accident was coming so I wear one all of the time. I would have stayed home if I could predict those things. Most of this summer has been miserable with 90-100 degree weather and high humidity so I'm sweating my ass off in there. I don't feel quite right riding without one after years of using them. Regarding the headaches and such mentioned earlier... I did some research and I've got my fingers crossed on a cheap solution. I mentioned that I've worn XXL HJC helmets since my first helmet and I always order XXL. I found the size chart for the HJC F70 that I wear the most and it says that I should wear an XL. While the helmet does feel tight and pushes against my forehead, it also droops and pushes down, so that may be accurate. This one has a removable liner and the XXL and XL are the same shell, just a different liner. I ordered the XL liner to try out. If it works, $30 would be much better than replacing the whole helmet for $300. One way or another, I'm gonna get rid of these headaches so I can enjoy riding again.
