well it will depend upon your primary gears as to what gears you have to power to pull the 14/34 2.45 is and the 13/34 is 2.62 so unles you have a primary that runs int the 5.00 range you might not have engouh power to pull them (this is assuming that you are running a 130/70 12 or 130/90 10 size range rear tire)
the 14 will give you the most top end but like i said if you dont have the right primary gear you wont have the power to pull it

2strokd...I don't want low end power....looking for an increase in top end by about 5-7 mph... I have twist n go Venice that is factory geared so low....on a hard launch it tends to do about a 4-6 in wheelie...tops out at only 30...but gets there right NOW....it is unsafe for the kids to ride in gravel as a quick launch sends them into a series of 'doughnuts'... My 72 cc Malossi has enough power to pull higher gear ration...in fact at 35 it is screaming away....wasting all that power and high revs.... Looked at the ratio chart posted here..which confuses me....cause I am looking for the actual numbers on gear sets...i.e. 12x36....13x35 etc....any help on that would be great... Maybe heavier roller weights too will help?....I own mostly 4 stroke 80 BBK's and taking advantage of a 4 strokes torgue is easy for me...as they like to lug and pull.....where as a 2 stoke needs to rev to get into its powerband... i would make sure my vari weights are not totally worn down and are a decent weight for top end like 6.5-8g first. worn out light weights can cause what you describe.

Right... LMAO man! I can run 70+ with these gears  . Vert has done 70 some shit with pretty much stock CVT stuff just to say he can do it. Get your numbers straight first. I run the same 11 ratio allot of 2T scoots come stock with. Ive just got the torque to use em up like lil tot toys with Skeedr. A customers scooter has a 70cc sport and a pipe of not so sport and it will pull 11,s all the way to 60MPH. And its loaded down with a heavy amp, lights all over it, a stereo to get in the way...
You can do it!!!!

The lower the final drive ratio the taller (faster top end) the gears are.

But I am seeing this now....how it works....silly me..it's like my 5.0 Mustang..it came with 2.73 rear gears...it put in 3.11......it would light the tires...but cruised 55 at a higher rpm....thus eating gas FAST!..

1FASTQMB....variator weights should not be worn....bike only has 14 miles on it....I bought it as a showroom model...that they never even fuled up or ran...but I do plan on looking and weighing the weights....mygf's stock QMB138 came with 7.5 gram weights....and was a dog!....put in 6 gram sliders.....and it really moves out now!

jmkjr72...k so I need to count teeth and figure our primary gear ratio as well?.....wonder why I never see primary gear sets on parts places...just the ones they call final gears..... Maybe this project may be too much for me. Oddly I can split cases and rebuild a QMB138 and Minarelli engine....but the gear thing has me boggled...
