So after watching the full 3 hours of the Build-off between OCC, Jr., and Jesse James I am thoroughly convinced that the producers of the show really aren't interested in showing us bike builds anymore. It's all about the drama and trash talking now. I used to think Jesse James was pretty cool but now he just comes off as immature and arrogant. He says the word "like" 5 times a sentence like a 13 year old. You know like, it's like, he says it like, too much like you know? And WTF was that hunk of crap O.C.C built? Senior yelled at Jr. once that he could "come out of retirement and smoke his ass!" but he didn't even get his hands dirty on the build as far as I can tell. Jason Pohl is a smart guy but he dropped the ball on this one and I can't believe Rick Petco didn't stand up and say "no way is that contraption going to be what we enter in the contest!"
I think that O.C.C. is on it's way out and that they are going to have a show with just Paul Jr. and his shop eventually. Not sure what the Jesse James angle was but rest assured there is a master plan at work here. I just hope they get back to the actual builds and lay off the drama because it's friggin' getting ridiculous.
That said I liked Jr.'sbike a lot. It's really big and the detail is amazing if you look at all the pics of it on the discovery site..

Used to watch OCC but tired of it after about a dozen episodes. I hate predictability in my entertainment.

yeah it was wierd you notice the only one that realy didnt talk much crap was jr and his guys
and what ever it was that occ built was interesting but it isnt even close to a motorcycle and i thought it was a bike build off
jesses bike was ok the only thing that was neat about it was the stainless steel and all his crap about the bikes not being riders so what not every thing is built to ride across the country that is part of a show car or a show chopper is the show part of it not like jesses was dot legit either i didnt see the speedo or turn signals
i think this was just jesses excuse to come out of retirement as he said he wasnt building bikes any more
so now he can say oh yeah it was that build off with the tutles that made me want to build bikes again i have to show them how its done
instead of maning up and saying i was stupid i blew it with sandra and im broke

Well the bottom line is that 10 years ago OCC wasn't shit and then the show gave them notoriety and fame which opened the cash register. There was tension but it wasn't that bad but after a year or so the whole dynamic of the show became Sr's dry-drunk, steroid induced ego yelling "We have a deadline to meet and clean up the coffee cups!" trying to make Jr. look like a peon so he could be the big shot with the steroid arms. (Sr. was using 'roids. Google it!) I think that if having to build a bike in two weeks causes such a rift then do away with deadlines and tell the client the bike will get done when it gets done etc... but that doesn't make good TV. Oh yeah, if Jr. was such a lousy worker and employee then why would Sr give him a 20% stake in the company? There's a lot of stuff we as viewers don't know. I'll tell you though, ten years ago I saw a company on the rise and I thought about applying for a job sweeping the friggin' floors over there because I liked the bikes and all the other guys like Vinnie and Christian and Mikey and I thought I could move up in the ranks fast just by keeping my nose clean and observing. I reallly did consider it.

yeah sr is an ass i was real young when he did the iron railings for my grandparents he was an as 30 some years ago and he is still an ass
i think the kick to sr is the fact that every one who couldnt work for him and said oh i wont go back is now working for jr

I watched that show when it first came on years ago and it had a certain novelty to it but it got old pretty fast. Same stuff, same bikes, just different episodes. We went without cable TV for years and I never saw it until recently, and still, same stuff, nothings changed. Im not a fan of that glamour boutique style chopper. If you go to S. Florida you see big, fat old men with madris shorts and black rayon socks riding them everywhere. Cooky-cutter bland. There was a show on a long time ago with some limey guy from Exile( ) choppers and he would let people build a bike and keep it if they did it in a week, or something like that. . . That was pretty cool. Some nice stuff. The choppers I like the best are in magazines called Iron Horse and Dice. Old school Triumphs and stuff like that. Lots of flat black and backyard fabbing. I always wanted to do a show about Vietnamese or Indian scooter people who would build radical scoots using only stuff they got out of dumpsters . . . That would kick ass !!!

I'm impressed with Jr as a man and occasionally like his builds. But for the most part i'd rather watch reruns of "Biker Buildoff" I like that on that show they had to RIDE the bikes 500 or more miles as part of the competition. If they brook-down and couldn't be repaired on the road they lost the battle.
And i highly recommend the Cafe Racer TV season 1 DVD.

I hadn't heard of this till this post. Haven't found any way to watch it yet that's half decent quality. I did see the clip of Sr riding that "thing" and it looks uncomfortable and silly to me. Might look good sitting still, but I think you'd get laughed at riding it. Why bother to build a high buck crazy custom if people just laugh at you when you ride it? You can get a scooter and a bunch of idiots will laugh at you for hardly any investment. lol

Yeah, I don't think you gotta worry about seeing Sr on a scoot anytime soon.

Thanks. I used to watch several years ago and never did like the way Sr. shot that kid down on a regular basis. At least he was man enough to congratulate Jr. I think I saw Mr. James slink off stage in the back ground. Yes, that thing Sr. had built looked like fun, but not a motorcycle, and he didn't call it a bike in the results show I noticed. As far as riding, Jesse james did not look comfortable on that chopper, wonder how far before your back went out of wack. Jr.s build looked comfortable, except the metal seat. What were those seats all about.

After watching the whole deal I think about it as if I were at a bike show. I'd pay very little attention to Jesse's bike. Senior's looks like some toy to me. Not a bike. He lost that competition for me when he passed up a chance to use a 1000cc 2T snowmobile drivetrain for each side of the tread. That woulda been badass. Junior's is the one I think I'd stop and really look at. Looks like an antique. Kinda reminds me of a bicycle. Kinda looks like a classic western cowboy should ride in on it. Whatever it is, it's interesting to me.
From a riding POV, Sr's sucks. Jesse's looks uncomfortable. Jr's looks like it's not too bad.

Is Sr. throwing these things on purpose? I wondered that when I saw the pictures of the Cadillac themed bikes. I'm going to have to find that episode so I can see what they were thinking there.
