before I start I want to say a big thank you to Zino and aeroxbud for the help I got into this BWS after I sold my 2019 GSXS 1000, to many close calls
I've been riding and racing bike's since I was 12 and now I found myself trying to do what I used to do
I started with the 2002 BWS Air Box, 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/30739/2002-50cc-bws-air-boxit's turned into a build with Mod's so now I'm at a time where I've bought and doing all the things I should have done 2 70cc kits and year ago I have a intake coming www.scootertuning.ca/en/intakes-intake-systems/4070-intake-system-naraku-big-valve-v2-23-32mm-4250362424310.htmland a Polini pilot jet kit I already have the main jet kit for thee 19mm Polini CP Zino gave me a link to ryan ott 49ccscoot.proboards.com/post/373971/quote/18761with his seat conversion I received my Kydex order today and did my own conversion starting with a cardboard template
then cutting the Kydex, I used a table saw 1st then metal shears and a heat gun
then changed the plan and decided to use the foam liner too for a gasket and installed with 2 thread setter nut certs
then cut the bottom out

And so it starts! 😁 I liked the GSX1000. Had a go on a couple while my old bike was being serviced. Like you though, it's a bit much for the road. I like to rev a bike out, and you only needed third gear to get in big trouble with the law here. Lovely motor though. Loads of reviews said the throttle was snatchy. But I never found it so.

I'd like a second or third opinion from you guys I'm now got the BWS running on a 38 Pilot, needle is one notch from the top, and a 94 main all the jets are Polini for the 19mm Polini CP carb I did my 2nd plug chop run and this is where it's at 92 Main on the left and 94 Main on the right the scoot is running strong right through to top speed 85k on the straight and level it still chugs a bit on the needle 1/4 to 3/4 here is a picture of the piston as well with about 1hr 15min break included plug is a B8HS any help would be Awesome Thx

I like the 92 better than the 94 . It has a smoke ring just like the 94 . My Tie breaker is the piston head has alot of wash . It only is dark in the middle the rest of piston has the color washed away by extra fuel. You are looking for the piston to be above 80% colored with just slivers of silver near the exhaust ports . I estimate you at about half with color .

Thx Zino I really appreciate your help after reading what you said and going through the ride again in my head it was down on snappy power I'll go back to the 92 Main, I'm just worried about having to buy a 4th cylinder kit I'll keep an eye on the temp here's a 2nd side view of the plugs 92 on the top

I run a NGK B9hs or ngk BR9HS with aluminum cylinders . This will lower your cylinder Temp by a notch
In the instructions for the Athena Cylinder It told me to go to a 9 heat range plug. Stock Cylinder is 7 Cast Iron is 8 and Aluminum is 9.

Thx I'll pick up 3 tomorrow I'm feeling a lot more confident about this scoot all the time I'm getting closer with the variator too 3mm to the boss and 5mm left on the outer edge with the sharpie I'm running 5.7g and 6.9g roller wights that's the heaviest I have 53mph @ 10300rpm and climbing, if it keeps running good I'll buy the matching rear pulley and clutch

I got to installing the clutch cover and had to make spacers for the OEM air box it was all a tight fit but do-able I knew the Naraku Reeds and intake where longer plus the 19mm Polini CP with adapter for the air box I knew it would be tight but I took a chance and it all worked out awesome time for a rip tomorrow

10,000 rpms and 53 mph is real strong and sounds about right without up gears for Athena with a good carb and expansion pipe You have some speed to pick up in the transmission when you pick up that last couple of mm
After you are feel confident that your carb is tuned in for crisp responsiveness and safe wide open runs
Move on to the trans Use your temp gauge to find a safe range for jets for your daily rider . Fuel mixture provides about 80 % of the cooling on these beasts
What you need to see is for the temps to level off on their own on long wide open runs. Alot of guys use a upper Limit of 350 degrees .
My Acid test for a daily rider is I have 3 mile wide open run that I feel very confident in my jetting if she levels off and the temp just hangs around a tempature under 350 . My Vinos with street pipes run closer to 320 and peak in the low 9000's for Rpms My higher revving Zuma would push beyond 10k would float below 350.
This will leave speed on the table but will be safer for daily changes in temps and humidity.
For rollers to get more options to try cut six equal sized pieces of aluminum and stuff that in the roller weights .
mix and match the weights and track top speed and responsiveness'

Thx for the very valuable info Zino I think I would have sized this cylinder kit up too with out you I'll try the aluminum in the rollers I have a really good scale that measures 0.1g I'll try that after picking up the plugs today

when you have multiple weights when dialing in the trans I like to track top speed to get me in the right range . With street pipes and sport cylinders like the Athena you might have up to a full gram of range that gives you the same top speed. With the expansion pipes you are closer to a half gram of range .
As a tie breaker when I am stuck between a couple weights . I take the most responsive to on an off throttle performance.

Thx I had a hard time finding the NGK BR9HS turns out the smallest bike store in town had them I made 6 0.5g aluminum weight in-certs for now

If you have the regular or light contra spring . I am betting the 5.7-6.2 range will feel better than the 6.2 to 6.9 range .
I ran 5.25-5.75 grams plus or minus with my Athena cylinder and yasuni r pipe.
If your belt is not slipping keep the contra spring you have .

I have 5.7 6.9g in there right now with out the 0.5g in-certs with Mallosi white contra spring, I still have the 2 shoe original clutch though I was told the white contra spring will bind and stick with the OEM clutch have you heard of that I'm gonna order a good 107mm in a while the belt isn't showing any signs of slipping though something is, the rpms come up really fast around 8800rpm and stay there
