What rpm would y'all say is too high for a stock 2 stroke 49cc engine?

A stock bike will only probably rev to about 7-8000 rpm. Not too stressful on the engine. If you fit an expansion chamber pipe, it could potentially rev to over 10,000 rpm. For longevity around 9000 wild be okay. Defiantly no more than 10,000. The higher the revs, the more stress on components. But with two strokes a good quality oil makes a world of difference.

Mine gets up to 8500-8900 fairly easy. I have rebuilt the top, but went stock size everything. So good possibility it has an aftermarket pipe? I'd rather it stay in the 7500-8200 zone, but when I went with heavier rollers it still rev'd pretty high over a long stretch and it didn't gain top end, but lost acceleration. What bikes is it? Normally with only 3hp the stock pipes strangle performance. Really limiting revs and speed. Piaggio and Yamaha in standard form won't rev past about 8000, unless going down hill. Are you on about top speed RPM, or setting the variator up?

Top speed...just say on a long straight even road, I could see my scooter revving 9500-10,000 if I just stayed at the throttle...I purposely keep it Around 7500-8000 but have to feather throttle to do so. That is crazy high for a stock scooter. Must have really low gearing. A lot of performance pipes won't rev out that far. If you look at this dyno graph, on the road once max power is produced, they won't rev out anymore, and will actually start to slow down. www.pedparts.co.uk/c/asset/sports-pipe-blog/50cc.png

Thats all I have done. And upped the roller size. Which I thought didnt gain top end, but it did. prior speed was 41-43 and when i tested it yesterday it was hitting 47. So maybe, I need to go up even more.

Throw in some really heavy rollers. Take it for a spin and try to feel at what rpm it has most power. Tune to that rpm.

At that sort of speed it must have an aftermarket exhaust I would of thought. Had it got any markings on it.

The pipe part is rusted a bit. Not terrible. I debated taking it off and sanding, treating, and repainting it. I know its a 2 stroke, but Id prefer to keep rpms down a bit and deeper sound if at all possible.

The silencer I believe says silvertone on it. "Silvertone" is a common label on stock mufflers. Both of my Vento Tritons came with them. Mine were nothing special. Stock for me was low 40s GPS. On the stock speedo, I could see 50MPH or even more if I caught a good tailwind or slight hill. I had to have the carb and CVT in order and a sport exhaust with a little cylinder porting/adjustment to see an actual 50MPH. Around 9000RPM for a sport pipe would likely only matter if you plan on putting a lot of miles on the scoot. It should be capable of being very reliable at that RPM.
