I am trying to get a 49cc jog going. I have replaced the fuel cock and carb. It will only crank if I remove the electric choke and hold my finger over the hole. Then it will only run as long as I hold my finger there. It also then drains the gas fast and I mean fast. Any clue to what is happening?

Found problem with air intake. Carb and choke working fine now. Cranking properly. I still can watch the gas level go down fast. Anyone have an idea why it is guzzeling so much gas?

You're not leaking any?

I still can watch the gas level go down fast. Can you explain this statement please. What are you watching exactly?

While trying to get everything set right anr running the scooter the gas level in the gas tank goes down. It goes down so fast you can watch it. It is like a leak or a hole in the tank. I have looked everywhere.and can see no leak. Everything is dry.

A leaking diaphram on a vacuum fuel petcock will dump fuel through the vacuum line directly into the intake causing rich running and high fuel burn..

I put a new petcock on and still the same.

Sounds like the float level is waaay off or too large jets are installed, remove carb, hook up fuel line, hold carb level, apply suction to vacuum petcock line, fuel should not leak from carb anywhere,,next remove float bowl and check jet numbers. shoule be 70-85 range.Good Luck!

No fuel coming from carb. Brand new carb just installed yesterday. I believe the jets should be factory.

Thanks 190tech, I really do appreciate you replying and trying to help. I can use all I can get. I am pretty new at this. I usually mess with outboard motors. I ended up with the scooter for my daughter and trying to get it right before I put her on it.

I'd open it up and check the jets like 190mech suggested. It seems like a long shot in a way, but if the fuel isn't leaking from the tank, the petcock, or the carb it's gotta be going into the engine.
