Consideration, when you fit the drive belt make sure it is pushed deep into the rear pulley, this will ensure that it is loose/free at the variator when tightening the nut up ,buy a variator locking tool to do this job and don't,t forget that broken bush Geoff Can I use my impact driver on it?

Using the impact driver is a no no,take the time to torque the nut properly and check the belt is loose before starting the scoot.

My man, I’m a cybersecurity major so I know how they get you, I promise you I’m not up to anything shady. I copied it straight from Amazon and it gave me that shortened link. Whether or not you want to open it is completely your call. A good rule of thumb is to follow the redirects of any URL you are given. You can do this with a website called WhereGoes, but there are others like it. Try it on a trusted shortened link so you can know how it works. Feel free to use the links I sent you with that site and you will see they lead to Amazon. I had that weird super offers thing happen to me too and I believe the link should be updated now.

went to the amazon link for the crankshaft. Unless they posted in error, I would not want an aluminum crankshaft. I do not think it would work, though I could be wrong. I think they made a mistake. Is that the correct number of teeth for the oil npump? tom

I am not familiar with the brand of CVT belt you linked to on 'zon. My take has been that you want to get a name brand belt if you want consistent performance and longevity. I have heard Gates brand are good. i had other brand names in my head, but the names must have fallen out somewhere. If you have experience with that brand and like it, by all means continue, but I expect most would suggest a brand name instead. Bando. Gates. blank... tom

Gotcha. Do you know where I could find a diagram for the crankcase bolts? I am forgetting where the 4 long ones go as to where the 4 shorter ones go.

Gotcha. Do you know where I could find a diagram for the crankcase bolts? I am forgetting where the 4 long ones go as to where the 4 shorter ones go. When re-assembling things with multiple sizes originally installed, most times you can figure which go where by putting the two parts together, and then fitting the bolts to the holes. The amount of bolt that remains exposed should be approximately the same for all bolts as when seated fully the will all press on the parts being assembled with about the same force. Just a glance should show bolts that are kinda short and those that are way longer than the others. Swap them until all bolts have about the same exposure. It's a lot more fun when installing water(coolant) pumps on the front end of an in-place engine as some of the bolts may need a sealant to keep the coolant inside and not seeping past the threads. And you can see them readily. And they are dirty and rusty. And you are trying to reach over a fender in the cold, going uphill both ways. Anyway, just setting the bolts into the holes may give enough information for an educated guess. Lots better than stripping threads when a too-short bolt is used or breaking a too-long bolt trying to get it to run down and do something. tom

Very smart Tom. I usually resorted to punching holes in cardboard of some type to show the arrangement. I have also used a scribe to mark locations on the parts. I love the comment about fenders, cold, and uphill both ways...
I have also seen the starter relay stick and keep the Bendix engaged which can make a mess.

A stuck relay can be 'interesting', until the starter starts to smoke... then it becomes VERY interesting. Only cure I found the one or two times it happened was to get a terminal off the battery post as quickly as I could. So far, nothing has caught fire. More difficult on the little machines that tend to make this site popular. With the seat bucket down, bolted, screwed, etc, and the battery likely hidden under a screwed-on cover, I don't know what I would do should that happen. Could be there is not enough battery capacity to cook a starter motor enough to make it burst into flames. I know I do not carry a Philips to be able to get to anything should it happen. Yes, Cheerios boxes work for punched hole retainers. They also work for water pump gaskets if you are decent with a scissors and a sharp knife. The tan 'oaktag' folders and hanging folders also work for that purpose. I actually bought a set of hold punches. Very similar to cold chisels, but with a round cutting end, each one for specific sized holes. The punches, a scissors and some gasket paper and a lot can be made in the garage when the store is closed or miles away. tom
