Thank you everyone that commented on this post. I haven't updated in a while so I figured I should log my conclusions for future generations. The Top Performances variator kit is awesome! Probably the single best mod I've done so far. The belt that came with it works good, but not as good as a 749.5-16.5-28 Bando. The bando belt uses all the pulleys. Finally got it right! Much smoother acceleration and faster everywhere. I'd say 3-4mph gain on the top end with the same or slightly less rpm. The kit came with 7 gram rollers and they worked fine, however, 8 gram rollers worked better for my particular application. Next is a 70cc kit!!!

Glad you got this figured out. Messing with belt lengths and everything else in the transmission can be such a journey.
Was going to say, a lot of the prebug community swears by the Top Performance kit and Top seems to have gotten it right and is a leader in the non-overrange aftermarket variator game for prebugs.
I would have gotten the same kit if I didn't jump right into an overrange.
