Doesn't look good, but Do they go all the way thru? Inner pics would help.

That wouldn't feel me with confidence. Some of these bikes are treated like stunt bikes. So possibly a careless previous owner?

Certainly not... got it from an older guy with only 750 miles... wild to think it would have cracks in it like this from what seemed like gentle use and low miles. No cracks go all the way to the inside. There are similar, not as gnarly markings on the inside but none of them correlate with that on the opposite side.

IMHO they are all casting marks from sand. Tap (gently) with a hammer and you will most likely hear if there is a problem. I see them all over my Kymco SC10AS 2T cases. No worries here, at all.

Here is a pic of the inside that shows them not going through.

That is crazy. I've had two old vertical Minarelli engine bikes. I've never seen that before. Good idea about tapping the cases.

His cases do seem a bit excessive. My Kymco cases are not near as bad but will still gash your hand if you are not careful.

Are they ridges or cracks? Try with your finger nail. To me these lines/ridges/cracks are nothing I would worry too much about. Basically every case has a few of them. A crack normally only happens at a stressed spot, these are all over. That wouldn't be logical if it was a crack. You could have the cases cleaned or blasted and inspect then when they are completely clean.

In some of the areas where I grinded down the case on the cvt side to fit the over range setup (like in the pic above) you can see that they are only on the surface. Chalking this up to bad casting marks for now and going to send it for the time being.

Pretty cool product, never seen this before, thanks for sharing. I read about others using blue food die as a way to test too so I may give that a try.

The canned stuff is a penetrant based fluid. That is important because the penetrant will flow through porous material that a simple dyed water may not. I suppose you could mix food color with Liquid Wrench PB Blaster, Kroil or similar, but I would have no confidence in that to tell you anything definitive.
