Here’s the transmission… something left it’s mark. There really is not much salvageable about this thing. Let’s just add a new transmission to the ‘imma need to buy this’-list…

And so far i’ve pulled the bearings from the transmission, both are past their lifespan. The bearings on the crank are shot too. The ones holding the bar to mount the engine to the frame sound weird too, just have to figure out how i.m going to remove those, as the bar is still stuck in one of them. Might need to find a hydraulic press to use.

I have just replaced those bearings on the engine mounts. What a pain to do. One had rusted to the bar. Broke a puller trying to get it off. In the end I used a crank puller to get it off. A press would be much easier.

Not that much new here, given time divided between family and 2 jobs. I managed to sneak in some time today, stripped the frame down to the last bolt. If i'd have known, that taking the stock keylock off, was that much of a ... Mot***F***! those bolts with a coned head and nothing to grab onto, yeah, great job there Yamaha. (I get it, anti theft and such...) Took the frame to the carwash and had a few go's at it, and dropped it off at the beadblaster/painters today. Tried to get the rims done too, but couldn't find a local shop to take the tires off, and i don't have those levers to do it myself (also don't have the time today), so the wheels will either be done at home or be brought in later for blasting/painting.

Nice work being done here. Nothing wrong with a slow mover, everybody has had a project like that now and again. Heck all of my projects are slow movers. I work on them for enjoyment only!
How much did you pay for bead blasting and powder coat? That’s a pricey service in my neck of the woods.

I told them it’s not a ‘i need it done yesterday job’, so we’ll see. i also have to source a ton of new parts (engine, frame, cooling, controls,…), have the case welded, rebuild the engine, … It’s just a thing to keep my mind occupied and have a project to forget the stress i get from work (and kids ).

So, managed to get a look at the blasted frame before painting, as i wanted to see if there were any issues, and once painted they’d be covered up again. I think it looks good. Also went shopping, got anything from gaskets (i think i got all of them for the whole scooter ) bearings (trans, engine mounts, crank, steering,…), oil seals for the whole thing, new electric harness, new cdi, waterhoses, nuts and bolts, half the starter mechanism,… I obviously told the wife i lost the receipt During the weekend i had to split my time between work, good weather and playtime with the kids, and in the evening i had some time so i tackled the front suspension. Took it all apart, cleaned the whole thing out, as the only thing providing some damping was a few drops of oil, some crud and the spring. Got new oil seals, dustplugs (is that what they’re called in english?) and some 15W fork oil. I now they should have 10W, but i always found the front fork a bit soft on a nitro, so maybe this will help that. Also wasn’t pleased with the rust on the fork clamp, so since i had it outof the frame and the legs were already gone, i managed to clean it up. I also already removed the bearing seat, as the bearings i found when disassembling the frame were shot, so i’ll replace those too. Once everything was stripped, cleaned, and degreased, i repainted the clamp, and i’m quite pleased to be honest with the result; I also found a company that does aluminium welding, and the owner is willing to let me ask one of his employees to weld my case, but they’re only in the workshop on mondays (they do on-site installs throughout the week) and my next free monday is either the 22nd before noon, or maybe the 29th, so once that gets sorted i can start rebuilding the engine. Also hoping the frame gets painted soon, so it can all come together I know i won’t have it finished next week, but bit by bit i’ll get there

Getting exited, got this from the paintshop today. Should be able to pick it up, hopefully, on saturday Also, it’s not powdercoated, but sprayed. I know this is not as strong, but they use automotive clear coat, so we should be good.

How much did you pay for bead blasting and powder coat? That’s a pricey service in my neck of the woods. it came out to be €325. That’s degreasing, blasting, primer, paint and clear coat. It is a bit higher than what I expected, but not overkill. Given the time spent on this, i can accept that price. i’m going to pick it up tomorrow morning
