I work on scoots for a living so anything I can do to save time is great. The single most time saving tool I have in my arsenal is a cheap $5 drill bit socket adapter set from Harbor Freight. It allows you to spin bolts at a rate that is humanly impossible. Coupled with a Phillips head bit you can strip down and reassemble a scooter in half the time it takes using hand tools. I strongly suggest everyone get a set of them. Like I said I got mine at HF but if you don't have one close by then you can get them on-line. compare.ebay.com/like/160639012525?var=lv<yp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&_lwgsi=y&cbt=y I also have a set of these cause they save time coupled with a drill or ratchet. Happy Wrenching!

Allen Socket sets are a dream!!! I changed all the phillips screws over to allens on my scooter. (due to getting in a rush and stripping screws of with the drill) Those sockets save so much time instead of using a allen wrench manually.

Impact gun is a mixed blessing on these, I've discovered. On Yama BWS at least the Crank/variator nut and clutch nut are of such Garbage Quality that even My cheap and weak Electric Impact gun chews the hell out of the nuts ..almost instantly. These then need replacing after the second Gun use. This is surprising as well as annoying given I've been fiddling with Yamahas since '73 and this NEVER happens with their Motorcyle parts. Clearly these Yama scoots are assembled in some 3rd world Line using abysmal quality metal fasteners.

I just received a tool I bought from racing planet that I think is cool and is gonna be real handy in the long run. It holds the variator, clutch bell, and removes the big ass contra spring nut. Its a really good tool to have for $39 shipped. Sent from my Nexus S 4G using proboards Attachments:

My 17mm cracked on a job and I had to run and buy another one. It rounded the nut a little but not bad. I bought a few good quality sockets for it eventually and never had a problem since.

I finally had a chance to use my 3n1 tool and it works like a charm. It can hold the crank via the variator kick start paw while loosening the flywheel nut also so its really a 4n1 tool IMO. Its definitely a tool worth having in the toolbox.

Can you show how you secured it to the castlenut? I have the buzzetti tool which is similar, but there's no way to secure it, so it won't work. Seems like this tool will also do the same thing.

I think I'm going to get these, thanks for the tip. I will just pick up the cordless impact while I am at HF and use it with the variator lock I just purchased.

The beauty of the impact is you don't have to use anything to lock up the variator, or wheel, or clutch, you get the picture.
