You are lucky. I lost my bike keys walking from the shed, to the coffee table in the living room. All of about thirty feet on Friday. Turned the place upside down, and couldn't find them anywhere. I had to remove the front wheel with the chain still attached. Then swap in another wheel so I could get to work. It took about 2 hours with a hacksaw. And four quality blades to remove the lock.

Lucky it was close to when you lost the keys. It's weird you see on YouTube people nicking bikes and getting through lock's in seconds but I'm like you will take me hours to "steal" my own bike 😊

There are too many tools around my house for anything to be secured, several bolt cutters in various sizes, angle grinders with diamond wheels or cut-off wheels, hacksaws, torches OA, Mapp, propane, chisels, hammers, drills, hotsaws, chain breakers, clamps, etc etc. Even a propane torch will ruin hardened steel. I carry my everyday key ring with 4 keys on a chain attached to a belt loop. My big key ring is stored elsewhere and never moves. I can also pick many locks.

Today I got given a Byocycle model unknown back after they bought it off me new about 14 years ago. It's been dead a while and they took it to a local bike shop in spring who said they would look at it. Apparently couple of people said it's a connectivity issue whatever that means and they have tried couple of new batteries but the old one is still locked in the frame and the last owner didn't give the shop a key so maybe you can bypass the battery who knows. It has the Nu Vinci automatic gear system whereby you twist the grip and large bearings go up a ramp to give it infinite gear ratios so maybe it should be called a Varomatic. Get round to it sometime and do something with it after Green Gathering and visit to the mother in law.

Another project to keep you busy! Not for a while me thinks but will pump up tyres and wash it tomorrow. Work on getting it running after the tires are pumped. Washing can wait. Pull all the connectors and check the crimps and for corrosion. Remember the silicone grease for connections. Do you have a good pair of crimpers for small wires? It does not take much to fark things up with small control circuits. It will need a new battery so use another good one for testing circuits. Good luck with that variable drive. If you can get it running you will need a new seat post and battery, -then you can wash it -LOL
