The 50cc 4 cycle mounts low down at the front. The easiest swap is any engine that mounts in a similar way ( Honda 2 cycle and old 4 cycle stuff) the *trouble* being they are all short case engines... even the 250.

I'm with jmk on this one. I think just buying a different scoot with a 2T or a 150 would be the best way to go. The only way I'd even consider spending that kinda money on an engine swap is if you do the 90cc 2T or 150cc 4T and if you really like doing the fabrication stuff and are confident in your ability to re-wire as needed. It's not the hardest thing in the world, but if you don't enjoy this kinda stuff it won't be worth all of the time and effort. You could prob sell your scoot, even if it doesn't run, and get some money toward the new scoot to even out the costs vs buying just a motor. Not to mention, and I mean no offense, but if you can't get your current engine running, it's probably a really bad idea to tackle an engine swap that could have ignition/electrical differences on top of all the other work.
