I got the starter I bought on Ebay, and it IS a Heiwei starter, so good find does it have '201012' on it? I am wondering if that is a part number or a date. Did it help your cranking issue?

Mine has nothing on it at all except the Haiwei name in the casting. I have not put it in yet, I might this weekend when I get time

Ok I replaced my started a little bit ago, the splined shaft is slightly shorter or the housing around it is alittle longer than the original starter. I started it twice and both times it engaged perfectly, so I put it all together and started it up for a ride and it engaged perfectly the first time as well. So replacing the starter with the HaiWei is what appears to have been the fix in MY case.

Ok heres an update! The starter was working fine till just the other day, when it started doing to hit or miss thing again! and yesterday it took several "bumps" on the starter switch to engage, and it seems to be going back to doing what it did with the original starter, so I think Im going to swop out the bendix after I find one, the problem has to be in that and it was masked for a week by the new starter.

The issue did return as I mentioned, so I bought a new bendix, and it came in the mail the other day. I plan to put it in maybe tomorrow and will post an update. The new Haiwei starter seemed to fix the problem, and did for a few days but then it started happening again.

I swopped out the bendix with the new one, and so far after several starts it is performing normally. I'm thinking the problem was in the bendix all along.

no it doesnt have a heiwei and you should see what your compression is first before throwing more parts at it.

I bought 2 starters recently to get the real Heiwei. Sucks that sellers post pics showing Heiwei and then you don't always get one. Superstardirect on eBay came through with the real deal. Guess I shoulda known the first for $19.99 was too good to be true.
