hey everyone! im back! just thought i'd give some updates on project freedom, well, after having no compression after 1st drive, i have to say, 1fastqmb was right, people, if you put a big bore and other performance parts in a scooter, don't rev the piss out of it, ESPECIALLY ON THE CENTER STAND. :banghead: i snapped my cam chain when i did. so i do not recommend it lol. after purchasing a gy6 flywheel puller from ebay, i had to return it, for they had sent me a bigger flywheel puller. so after i got the correct one, i began breaking down the engine, BOY WAS THIS A PAIN. anyway, after replaced the cam chain + oil seals (as was recommended) i put it all back together, then first run, perfect, now, i had to start tuning, i started with 7g koso roller weights, then a valve adjustment, and a/f and idle adjustment, then i had a day of downtime so i got creative, and started painting! i planned on doing something military (but not camo) for the troops, so i went with army green, and am waiting on the armystar stencil along with many others. the body isn't in perfect condition but theres no major cracks and or breaks in it. I KNOW, I KNOW. :needpics: they're on the way. be patient. so, now that the engine is finished, and after the body is finished. then ill be moving on the some major customizations. thanks for reading this everyone!

well, after 100ish miles of breaking in, it seems im gonna have some more trouble out of this scoot. at first, i thought it was slow, because it had 100 miles on the bottom end and 0 on the top end, but after the 100 miles, its climbing from 30 up super slow, i haven't ran it wide open much, and i can do the 30 mph barely cracking the throttle, at first i thought this may have been a roller weight issue, so i swapped them for the 7g that came with my kit. nothing... seems as if it has good compression, starts on first kick, never dies, has an odd idle when cold though, could i have got the rings mixed up?? i haven't tore it back apart to look for anything yet, i thought i'd come here first and ask the professionals what i should be looking for. well. now that thats out of the way, heres a couple pictures of some cruising. :sos: :sos: :sos: :sos: :sos: :sos:

i just contacted the previous owner of the engine.. the odometer hadn't worked in a while, who knows how many miles it has...saying that...im thinking maybe a problem with the clutch?

I'd go over the CVT if you haven't cleaned and inspected it all yet. If RPM is low the try lighter weights (not sure if 7g is lighter or heavier than what you had).
Sure the carb is in tune?

the only thing to tune on the carb is the a/f right? i put a #95 in for the bore kit. today it started missing on acceleration, going to check all electronics / fuel / vaccum lines then clean the carb.

You need to tune the main jet, needle setting, idle mixture, and pilot jet if you can't get the idle right with the screw. Putting in a jet does not mean it's right. Too many variables for any recommendation to be anything more than a good starting point.
If it's missing, definitely go over all ignition components. Loose plug cap or wire, CDI and stator connections, air gap, kill switch connections. Good thinking on the fuel and vac stuff as well.

idles perfect so no need for that, would the 95 be too small for the bore?! how should i adjust the needle setting? also, i figured something was out of tune, a/f screw seems to have little effect.

95 may be good, may not be. I forgot it's a 4T. lol Those are a bit more forgiving for one and it also seems like people have better luck with recommended jet sizes. I always do trial and error tunes myself. I have a selection of jets and I run WOT and see which jet gives me the best results. If some are very similar and the plug looks good, I'll just go with the richest that gives good results.
I usually tune the idle section next. Some would say do the needle next, I like this way. Adjust the mix screw for highest idle, moving 1/8-1/4 turn at a time and letting the RPM settle each time. Once you find the best spot, go 1/8 turn toward rich to be on the safe side. Also verify that it responds easily when barely giving it throttle. If the mix screw doesn't do anything, pilot may be the wrong size. Try and see if it does better when the screw is all the way rich or all the way lean to have an idea where to go.
For the needle I'll usually start by seeing if it's got good response on the stand. If not, I adjust till it does. Use the richest setting that gives good response and doesn't sound rich or lean. Then ride and see how it feels and sounds at part throttle.
