what is the proper valve adjustment, Ive seen some say .004mm and others say .04mm. will someone clear this up, I have them set at .004 and maybe that is my power loss

what makes you say it was bad gas? when did a valve adjustment come into it? please tell EXACTLY what happend.

well I ride it everyday, about 20 miles aday. I went to a backwoods store and got some gas and the scooter, lawn mower and weed eater all ran funny, so asume it was bad gas. I put the 72cc BBK on about a month ago and not had any problems with it until the gas deal. Now I have no power. But this whole time I set my valves at .004 inch. I ran fine, but always felt like something was holding it back. Im going to go reset my valves to the .025 like you said and see if that clears it up any

two and a half thousands of an inch
point zero zero two five inch
if it had water in the gas and/or old stale gas and you didnt remove the tank, lines and fuel filter and carb and clean them all throughly then put a new fuel filter on it when reinstalling everything or you did not get it all out.

Pretty sure I set my TaoTao 50 to .004" initially and it's been running very well, plenty of power and I can cruise easily at 35-40 mph with about 3/4 throttle on the flat.
If it's too wide a gap you'll certainly hear it tapping, a lot of hard starting problems is from the valve stems stretching over time and the gap lessens- they tend to get tighter as a result and when the engine is warmed up enough and that gap closes, the valves can start not closing fully and you lose compression and cant start.
When the engine cools a bit it starts up just fine.
Too tight a gap can cause problems like too loose, but too loose you'd hear it tap a lot but other than that I don't think you'd see a loss of power unless it's WAY off.

Im losing horse power in my scooter an it only comes back for a short time an gets me up to top speed but the it goes away its a four stroke qmb 139 gy6 50cc an I reallly need help in figuring whats wrong please help
