Some days you just can't win. Better to walk away, and start another day.

Figured I'd tell you guys how dumb I am. I know, that's old news. I flushed the cases out with premix. I spilled a little in the floor on the first try. 1/2 cup... maybe more. Soaked it up with kitty litter when I was done. I keep a gallon jug of water around for whatever arises since there's no running water in the garage. Decided it would be a good idea to dump that on the floor and clean it up, hopefully removing some of the fuel smell that lingers and making sure nothing is slippery. The anti-fatigue mats that stay by the bench were moved out of the way. I saw something else that I wanted to move, so if water ran too much (garage floor has a 5 degree slope so water heads toward the doors) it wouldn't get wet. Stepped on the mat that had water between it and the floor and busted my ass on the concrete floor. Hit my butt and lower back mostly. The knee that I broke in a crash hurts now, lower back hurts, hip hurts. I think all just from the immediate tension and twisting when you try not to fall and the knee never feels good anyway. I'm fine. Dumped some more water down and finished cleaning the floor. May not work on the scoot anymore today. I'm definitely letting that stuff dry thoroughly before I go back out there. I did basically the same thing last month. Working on a flat membrane roof I threw down a kneeling pad that I use to protect my knees. Well I threw it in some water then stepped on it, I didn't fall but I sure twisted my knee. I can still feel it. Heal Quick.

I got the engine together with the newer cylinder kit and the modified head. Did that at 6AM and just checked for leaks around 4PM. I blew compressed air through the exhaust. Don't really think anything hung around in there. Unlike some failures, the engine ran for miles after the fail so I'm hoping whatever was there was blown out before I ever opened it up.
I rebuilt the water pump. Filmed a video about that. Then took it back apart and put retaining compound on one of the bearings because it wants to move with the impeller shaft (which has to be tapped to move). Next time, I'll probably replace the whole pump. Also replaced the belt. No real issues with the belt at ~1,000 miles of use, but for $6 I'll just replace it with the rest of the pump service.

Since my carb has been dripping again, I took it off to see where the float height was. Looks fine to me, but I noticed a crack in the metal tab for the float. Sure enough, it broke off when I tried to make a small adjustment. Wanted to replace the needle as well to be safe and the filter behind the fuel inlet has been torn for quite a while. The first site I found (dellorto shop) would have been about as much as a carb to get some rebuild parts. Found this site after a bit, so that's on order. I may dig out my other PHBL to get it rolling. We'll see how it goes. www.casalambretta.us/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=1417&search=phbl+rebuild+kitI also lost one of the springs for the MHR exhaust at the car show I guess. Not sure how a spring with so much tension disappears unless it broke or maybe I snagged it on the ramp loading/unloading. The ones linked below arrived today from amazon. I think they'd need be 5mm shorter to get tension more similar to the Malossi springs, but the price was right with fast delivery. I bought springs from Yoshimura a while back for the Peace Pipe. These seem to be the same thing, minus the Yoshimura rubber sleeves, for half price or less. amzn.to/3381XSD

hope you heal up nicely , we have all been there these builds take time and we usualy do to but when your juggling eight tasks at once its easy to get in a rush. i have had an issue with coolant leaking in recently and before i knew that was the issue i had trouble kicking it over it wouldnt budge, so i rotated it reversely with mu hand turning the flywheel then it was fine this must have beem the ring sticking i now am realizing. when i took the head off i found a cylinder nut was stripped and head gasket blown . I think i got off lucky as the bore looks fine otther than some scuffing on exauhst bridge.

I decided to just wait for the carb rebuild kit instead of doing it with parts from another carb that are also old and well used. It was supposed to be here Sat. Worked out nice, so I could get it together and then ride Sunday. No show. Supposed to be here late today now. I replaced my broken GoPro Hero4. I knew I needed to upgrade anyway since looking at Ryan's Hero8 footage beside mine from the car show in October. I've also got a roll bar mount with rubber inserts on the way so maybe I can mount it without immediately tearing it up trying to film the CVT area. You can mount the 9 without a protective housing, but I read that the built in mounts have broken before and it's constantly hit with bugs and such so I got housings to mount on my helmet and scoot as well. Just need to figure out how to get decent sound, hopefully some mic fur over holes drilled in the back of the housing like my old setup. So much for a better engine kit, I'm tearing up cameras instead.

Really nice looking and needed improvement. As much as you do for the two-stroke industry you deserve a sponsor

I think i saw you post something about a lectron carb, are you going to use it on this scooter? Eventually. At least long enough to see if I instantly reach 100MPH. It's a 30mm HV Lectron. It looks like a PITA to deal with on a scoot where you want storage. Bigger and the intake setup sucks for the real world vs what I have now that's very low. I don't even have any airbox setup for it. Just a pod filter. Not a fan of those, but it's not worth even more $/effort till I see if it does anything for me.
