The last 2stroke carbs used a pump system that sprayed extra fuel in the venturi from 1/4 to 3/4 throttle,it used a TPS and or RPM sensor with a small alternator charging circuit to run the pump..A piped strong 2stroke always has the lean condition (piston smoking) at part throttle...

Brent I would be very curious to see how the SmartCarb compares to the Lectron. I bet if you contacted SmartCarb and asked for a review sample in return for a comparison video you could get a carb for free and compare them.
Ive been considering a SmartCarb for my Dio Baja build coming up but your experience with Lectron has totally turned me off to the idea. It would be interesting to see the SmartCarb compared to the Lectron by an experienced tuner with experience on Lectron.

But Brent doesn’t have experience with Lectrons, he has experience ordering pistons.

I really don't like to reach out and ask for stuff, but that is an interesting idea. The only bad part is that I think it could be really unfair as far as a comparison. Smartcarb would have the benefit of all of the info about where the Lectron struggled for me. I'd have to guess if I handed Lectron a bunch of info beforehand, they would have got me closer. I just ordered whatever they sent to ScooterTuning like anyone else would get. Regardless, I may see what they say at some point. Not a snowball's chance that I pay my money out for another ultra expensive carb anytime soon so that would be the only way it would happen.

If you were to order from SmartCarb they essentially build you a carb. You can either email them a list of engine specifications or talk to their engineer. They will recommend you a carb size, metering rod selection and even the metering rod setting inside the carb body. If you order direct they assemble the whole thing for you and pre-set the carb based on your specifications. Lectron (from what I understand anyways) you order from a distributer. Theres a lot less "custom" work done for you beforehand. I understand the hesitancy to reach out with free stuff in mind. Thats why I suggested a review sample. Essentially a loaner unit you try out and report back on. I think the only fair way to compare the two would be to provide SmartCarb with roughly the same information you had about T2 before you started Lectron tuning. That way you get more of an apples-to-apples situation. Food for thought.

You can deal with Lectron directly and they will talk to you and help you with carb choice. Not sure how in-depth that normally goes, but they definitely do custom configurations. I ordered from ScooterTuning because they gave me a slight discount and I figured they would already be selling a carb expected to work with scoots based on the description.

Riders seeking performance, fuel economy, simplicity!!! They're probably right in 99.9% of all cases with this statement... Unless it's A Brent you're dealing with. Then it doesn't hold up for too long lol.

Finally got the Dell installed. Hoping to go to Bikefest tomorrow so I was kinda running out of time. It fired up on the 2nd kick and ran fine on a very brief test run since it starting to sprinkle. 1230-something max EGT WOT and snappy response. I upped the idle to about 2400RPM because I always have to raise it when I go to the beach. I can't hear the engine around really loud stuff and it makes me paranoid that it's dying out.
Currently letting it cool for a few minutes and then I'll swap in a new belt, clean the wheels and load it up so it's ready to go whenever. It's dreary and misty at the beach today and there are still quite a few bikes out from checking a traffic cam, so maybe there will be a bunch tomorrow when it's supposed to be 80 and mostly sunny.
I considered making a sign for the back of T2 to egg on the HD crowd that said something like "5 CUBIC INCHES. WANNA RACE?" but I think that would look pretty bad the hundred times that cops are behind me or if I did get pulled over. When I went on the TMAX, most people never wanted to do anything but make noise at red lights anyway.

Bikefest should have been named Harleyfest. I felt like I saw the same few bikes in different colors over and over all day. I was mostly bored and annoyed, which is definitely not what I was going for.
I took 3 laps around town. Almost went home after the first because I was pretty irritated. Harleys want to be scooters so badly that they rode in the bus/bike lane so I had to putt around behind them. Couldn't do anything fun while creeping, like little wheelies, because everything was too unpredictable. It was about 85 and I think I was the only person in the town of Ocean City with more than a half helmet and t-shirt on. I even panicked for a bit, because I thought my CHT gauge was my coolant temp. Uh oh... 140... 150... 175... oh no. Wait, that's CHT. The Lectron has me out of practice of even riding T2. I'm lucky I remembered which lever makes it start.
The first lap was by far the worst for motorcycles in the bus lane. Even when the coast was clear and I could sit at the front at most traffic lights, it was pretty uneventful. I couldn't get anyone to do anything. Between everyone having the same ridiculously loud exhaust and very loud, low quality, stereos playing mostly awful music; they probably didn't even notice the scooter revving the engine at them. I couldn't help but be amused at the guy playing "Wild Side" by Motley Crue beside me at the light that accelerated like a great grandpa as I left in a cloud of smoke. Don't hurt yourself over there on the Wild Side. It got to a point that I'd be at a light basically alone and I'd take off WOT. I had about the same chance of getting a race with no one beside me.
I revved at a group of bikes right beside me at a light. I heard one say basically, I think he wants some... and then laughter... and then I could barely see them in the rear view 5 seconds after the light was green. I saw a scooter at a red light. I'm rolling up to stop and he turns right, U-turns, and then back on the road to avoid the red light. Dammit!
I did have one big Harley take off and I was slightly ahead when I let off. Naturally, my camera was dead. I don't know what was going on today. My GoPro was getting really hot and batteries were lasting 20-30 minutes. I tried swapping my rear cam that was lasting longer to the helmet and it did the same thing. It seemed like every time something interesting happened, it was just before I could pull over to change batteries. I've never had that happen before. Not sure if my batteries are all junk from barely riding this year or what. Then again, I don't know how many hot days I've rode this way. Car shows have been within 10 degrees of this and batteries last an hour roughly.
I pulled into a private parking lot to change batteries. On the way out some woman in an SUV kinda pointed and said something like " hey you... you..". I drove over the curb and took off. lol Way too annoyed to talk to strangers right now lady.
I had a few really stupid Harleys around me. One was literally 30 seconds after my helmet cam beeped that it was going off. He was in the center lane and I was in the left lane on a 3 lane section. Without a turn signal, he quickly slowed and turned right across me into a side street. Had another on a trike dive into the bus lane right in front of me and brake to make a turn. More of that sort of stuff than I usually experience in a couple of years of riding.
I did have some thumbs up, nice bike and so on. One guy wanted to buy T2. Some of the thumbs up were after I left everyone at lights and they caught back up. I was sitting at one light and a guy was going across the intersection. He pointed right at me and "Aaaaahhhh haaahhaaaaaaaa" loudly.
I doubt that I even have enough of anything worth doing a vid, but I'll check.
I finally get tired of it and packed up. Decided to take the highway out instead of a back way. That was a mistake. The only good thing was seeing a woman on a CBR600RR with neon pink on the bottom do a couple of little power wheelie bunny hops for some kids in the back of a truck while stuck in traffic. I would have leapt out of the truck and proposed on the spot if she weren't about half my age.
I came across a traffic standstill. Apparently 5 motorcycles were involved in an accident on Rt50. 2 helicopters had to come in and there were multiple head injuries. During that, 2 trucks ran into each other. I learned this once home. In the same area, there was a problem with a Jeep.
"MD State Police are attempting to locate a red Jeep, that is purposely attempting to run motorcycles off the roadway. The vehicle was last seen in the area of Rt 50 and Keyser Point Rd."

So how come the scooters are allowed in the bike lane but motorcycles are not? Is it a courtesy thing for the scooters?
At least T2 didn’t break. That’s a bonus

So how come the scooters are allowed in the bike lane but motorcycles are not? Is it a courtesy thing for the scooters? They're basically looked at like bicycles to some degree. Same reason I'm supposed to stay on the shoulder on most roads. They probably want us out of the way, but it works out well in OC because you can beat traffic... when people don't drive cars and motorcycles in the bus/bike lane. It makes OC fun on scoots. I really don't like taking anything motorcycle tagged there because you spend your day/night in a traffic jam. Just saw that there was an accident with a state trooper and a motorcycle in OC. 2 people airlifted from the bike. Way too many motorcycle accidents in the area today.

What does Ryan do when he comes down? I assume his scoot is tagged MC like mine is. Grey area?
