It's sounding good Brent! All you need now is a brand new Yasuni Sleep always helps me remember things too. Like I have a miniature dream right before I wake up that tells me exactly what to do, or where to find something I lost. Anyways, it looks freakin good for being in storage for so long!

The exhaust should be here tomorrow. I just couldn't wait to see if it would fire up. I thought I'd probably have more weird problems to work out. So far so good. I should probably fire it up for a minute again today to get a little more heat in there, then let it cool again and re-torque the cylinder nuts. Not sure why I taped the seams of the shrouds knowing I had to do that? The Yasuni looks really cool, but I wouldn't trade the pipe John custom made for my setup for any aftermarket pipe out there. It really doesn't look good at all. From 20ft it does, but up close it's very dirty and there are lots of scuffs and scratches. I'm not pulling it all to repaint anytime soon though, so it'll have to do.

Some people look at scoots as an 'art form',I look at them as tools for education and enjoyment.Like the old guy once told me,"it looks good from the mailbox!".A few scratches and dings give it character!!

You and me are kinda alike, John. I figure the day I get my scoot lookin' like a perfect sparkling jewel will be the day I really lay it down hard.

I got this one looking really nice and that's when the engine started giving me issues and I dropped one cylinder in floor and cracked it and all that stuff. Shiny scoots are bad luck I guess.

I guess I'm just too old and poor and too pessimistic too. Like John said.... as long as you're too far away to drool on it , it doesn't look too bad.

I had mine looking pretty, then laid it down hard while in wet grass ,after the bruises healed.I decided not to repair the dings and enjoy it as my rolling test bed...

The pipe John built came in today! What a well built piece. This thing is awesome. I can't say enough about it. Looks good, sounds good, sturdy, fits great, and on and on. Very impressive. Just for an idea of how massive this thing is, the John special is on top and my 100cc Leo Vince is on bottom. This thing is like an on/off switch. I still need to do a lot of tuning, but I have got it running to some degree. It has absolutely nothing down low, and then it kicks in like you flipped a switch. It needs more carb tuning and it really needs some trans partsto keep the revs up. The burnout vid should illustrate what I'm saying pretty well. It's all I can do to get the tire to move, then BLAST OFF! lol ;D ;D Thanks John!!! ;D

I'm fed up with this thing already. lol
It's trying to show me it can pump out a little power, but it's absolutely not usable. I added 2000RPM clutch springs and a 2000RPM contra spring at the same time. I could tell it revved higher to engage, but beyond that there was really no difference. It barely wants to go till 20-25MPH, then takes off to about 40MPH and just screams so high it breaks up. If you let off at all there's no power. Part throttle makes lots of crackling noises but does nothing. On/Off. I could see that the belt isn't traveling much, so I added 7.5g rollers (they were initially 5g). It chugged to 20-25MPH and absolutely would not go faster. I came back and went the other way to 3.5g rollers. It made it to 20-25MPH faster and then screamed up to maybe 35MPH revving so high it was breaking up. Once again, no part throttle. On/Off.
I'm using a 102 main jet and a WOT crackling plug chop showed a fairly dark tan/gray. Idles nice. Free revs a bit boggy. I had richened the needle all the way, I might need to back that off to the middle. I'm not sure if it's really close or not though. The thing acts so crazy with the way it's on and off I don't know what's what.
I parked it. Tired of messing with it already. I'm thinking it might need something closer to a stock or 1,000RPM contra and pretty light rollers. From what I've seen so far, I have a hard time believing this scoot will be good for anything but trailering somewhere and showing off. Maybe with the right setup it will really come to life. Who knows?

Stuck the stock 90cc contra spring in there with the 3.5g rollers. Transmission acted better, but still stupid. Got up to speed revved for a sec and died out slowly and I coasted to the next road to turn around. Walked it 1/8 mile home. 75psi compression test (was 190+). Awesome.

This explains it... Forgot to take a pic of the plug, but it was dark. Count this off the road for a bit. I just spent more money than I have trying to get parts around for potential customers.

Ouch! I hate to see those trashed pistons, the Venus is looking better all the time...Saw some scuffing on the skirt and wall, think it had a lean spot?

It's possible. The lean spot would have to be WOT or off the throttle though. It relies on the pipe to hit so much taht I was having a hard time getting the CVT to cooperate with me enough to tell anything. Usually I can tune by the feel and sound of lean and rich, but this thing is so nuts I don't know what it's doing most of the time.
Who'd'a thunk the SunL would be the 1 running scoot of 4?

Possibly a clearance band machined into the upper part of the piston would have helped here. That piston was very hot and bearing heavily against the exhaust side of the cylinder. I haven't gotten one yet but I'm thinking a temp gage is looking better all the time.
