It's still a bummer to me to find leaks. lol I just appreciate finding it before I can't get it tuned or or blows up like you said.

 I'm just now catching up on this thread. Family always comes first. Your taking care of your Granny impresses me a lot more than this build anyway.... not to say that I can't appreciate the concept and execution of this build. Loved the sheet metal seal removal technique.... great tip, John! Those timings with a good long pipe ought to have it running well into the nines with some impressive midrange. I'm ready to see this one lay it down and hike it up. What you gonna feed it with? :stumped:

Feed it with? Stock carb, premium pump gas. Compression is junk. It's about 140psi. I'd need tighter squish with the piston all cleared for the timings. Big carb would probably be a pain to fit. It's hard enough for my big hands just to get the airbox back on the stock carb in this little frame. PITA to tune, so I just hope it ends up worth the hassle. The little stock carb should give me nice snappy throttle response if it's right. Baby carb and big tuned pipe doesn't really sound that great to me. I never have figured out just what I wanna do there. I'll know when something is bolted on basically.

I dropped the engine in and just bolted up the motor mount and the shock real quick yesterday. The good news, is that it does fit alright. I came out this morning to tie up a few things and what is probably most or all of the gear oil (only 100mL) is in a puddle under the engine. I'll have to figure out what that's all about. There's a little less clearance between the spark plug and the frame, as I expected. It's enough of a difference that I couldn't manage to get the spark plug boot on. I ended up cutting off the tip o fthe boot to shorten it slightly, and then I could get it into place alright. I hooked all the other wires up and then went to attach the brake cable. I found another difference in the ATV and scooter engines there. The scooter engine has a section where the brake cable passes through and the spring will push against it to create tension on the brake cable to help it return. The ATV engine has no such thing. I've still got some work to do to stop the leak and get the brake working at some point, but I did try to start it real quick before I came in. After 3-4 kicks it fired up. I shut it right back off though since there's no exhaust on it and it was about 8AM on a Sunday. ;D

I had to come in to get soemthing, so I figured I'd make one quick update... I found the cause of the gear oil leak. Me. I never tightened the drain plug before I put the fluid in. I felt like a dummy, but that's the best case scenario for a fix so I can't complain too much, right? lol

Right after I made the bracket I started it with no pipe and it revved and had no power to move really. After about 30 seconds I was deaf from a tinny closed garage and decided to wait to try anything else unitl it is muffled in some way. lol It's been rainy and stormy all day anyway.

I put the SP3 on it last night. It doesn't have the long, narrow, stinger like the MRP pipe so hopefully overheating won't be an issue with it. Nice and quiet. It needs the idle adjusted. I hopped on for a second and I think I need to swap to much heavier rollers. It revs hard with next to no throttle and doesn't really wanna start moving easy. 90ccs usually like heavier rollers, but I figured I'd just leave everything alone to start. I remember with my first 90 in T2 I tried 4g rollers like the 50s and 70s liked for me and it was the same thing. I needed to be 2-3g heavier with the big engine. One thing that kinda sucks... I gotta remove and install the brake bracket every time I mess with the CVT.
