Greetings, I know this is a simple question but I cannot find a concrete answer. What is the largest crank size (Stroke) and cylinder/pistion size you can install on a 1E40QMB Minarelli engine without any case modifications. I am trying to get around 100cc. Do I just need to find a 90cc case?
Thanks!!

Welcome to the forum!
Autotech355 has a 45mm stroke crank thats said to fit the stock cases.A 48mm cylinder is the biggest with no mods.
A set of 90cc cases or machine yours to fit the larger Jog 90 parts will make a better street motor..

to the forum! Has anyone tried the 45mm that's supposed to fit? Sounds too good to be true. The 41.4mm cranks should fit, but you won't get anywhere near 100cc with that and a 48mm bore (75cc). Even if you can get that special 45mm stroker to drop in, it'll make 81cc with the 48mm bore. Not sure if there are even 48mm cylinders that are meant to work with a 45mm stroke. If not, you'll end up doing machine work to the cylinder and/or head anyway to try and get it set up how you'd want it. The long case 90s have become hard to find. There were some on eBay recently, but now I can't even find them. If you have a short case, you can make a 90cc minarelli ATV engine work. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=yamajog&action=display&thread=999

Here's the description from the listing for the crank that should fit... www.ebay.com/itm/Performance-Stroker-Crankshaft-45mm-50cc-engine-1E40QMB-Vino-Zuma-Jog-Moped-/230905019905?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item35c302fe01" Performacne 45mm Stroke Crank
for 50cc upgrade.
this Top End stroker crankshaft is design for drag race & ATV race
with huge torque power output.
longer stroke will produce more torque power drive vehicle.
this kit include
45mm stroke crankshaft
crankshaft bearings.
10mm wrist pin bearing & oil seals.
splines size :13mm 17 teeth
this kit is design & only for professional
original 50cc engine is 39.2mm stroke
this performance crankshaft increase 5.8mm
you will need to raise up cylinder 3~5mm avoid piston hit to cylinder head, insert more gaskets/spacer is necessary.
will recommend for 47mm big bore kit
modify engine is necessary for this over size crankshaft" I see that it has pics showing the crank as 72mm diameter. The last stock crank I measured was 71.75mm and the cases were 74mm, so it should be about right that way. The issue is see is that it's a 10mm wrist pin. You can't get and 50-54mm top ends to make a 90-100cc for 10mm pin that I know of. You're stuck with 50-70cc kits and spacers. It's cool, but it would be much better if someone would make a 45mm stroke 47-48mm bore kit.

Athena makes a stroker crank (specifically for a Zuma) that fits in the cases, is I believe 42mm (you will have to check this), has a 12mm wrist pin, and has small splines/taper, so your stuff will fit. You can open up the case with a sanding drum/drill press (if you are careful) for the 54mm cylinder. You will have to play with the port timings, but should be able to make it work. This combo should net you around 100cc's.

Got a link or is that something you've contacted him about? I checked all 54mm listings I saw from him and they all said 12mm.

Sorry, I must have been searching and replying while you were as well. It would be interesting to have a kit that only involved the bore size mods to the cases. That's much easier than opening them up for the cranks with hand tools. Prob could even get a machine shop to do that much cheaper than the crank clearancing if you didn't wanna DIY.
One downfall to forgoing the extra case work though, even if all else aligns, you've got a big motor with a small pin. Not sure if that's a great idea. I notice that the really stout 70-95cc setups offer 12-14mm pins.

yes it would be nice if he had that 45mm crank in a 12mm pin. opening up for the bore has to be easier than opening up for a bigger crank if its a diy project

I have done research into this and it is not really possible with a 48mm bore cylinder. The port timings were crazy and a lot of base gaskets were needed to get the timing right so it wasn't going to make power at 14000 and the piston wasnt going to jump out the top of the cylinder. Might work with the bigger bore though not sure
