I've never messed with it. Only thing I ever posted on CList was a yard sale announcement when we sold my Grandmother's estate items for the family. Seemed to work, people were lurking at 4AM while I was trying to set stuff up. Never got any spam. Thats cuz you didnt post in the "For Sale" section You don't get spammed in any other section. I use craigslist for my computer business all the time, and I get around 5 spams a day. Not only do I get email spams when I post on CL, I also get PHONE spam from people "trying to help me sell my items". Shit get's old, especially when they call twice in a row when you are at work busy as hell and you forgot to put your phone on vibrate.

That's why I never post my phone number on CL. My ad says: "Leave a number in your response." losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/mcy/1675080000.htmlCan't stop the spammers though... What I hate is people that prefer to send e-mails than to talk on the phone so they don't leave a number. I send them an e-mail back and I say: "Call me!" and I give them my cell number and they send another e-mail. My worst pet peeve though is when a guy will set up an appointment to bring his scooter to my shop and so I leave the whole day free and then they don't show up. Don't call. Don't send an e-mail. I wanna strangle 'em and then bring them back to life so I can strangle them again.

I haven't even done much business yet, not advertising on CL either, and 50% of the time people are late or way late. A couple no shows. It's crazy how some people want things done so fast, but they don't realize if they show up when you tell 'em it'll get done faster.

What I hate is people that prefer to send e-mails than to talk on the phone so they don't leave a number. I send them an e-mail back and I say: "Call me!" and I give them my cell number and they send another e-mail. Lmao. This is so funny, because over the winter I did not have a house phone or a cell phone. I also didn't have any one living with me that had a phone. We were pretty broke at the time. I tried selling a lot of stuff on Craigslist to get some cash to keep the utilities on. Some people would just leave me a message saying to call them at a certain number. I would reply saying that it is impossible for me to get to a phone to make the call, and for them to work with me through email. I think I scared a lot of people off, or they just didn't want to bother with it. Some people were okay with it, but it took me a while to sell all the things I needed to sell. I also tried buying a few other scooters and other things that way, and most of the time people wouldn't really respond. There ad would say "Call xxx-xxx-xxxx" and I would email them saying I can't call. Sometimes they would even email me back saying it again, to call a certain number. Lol... It was pretty hard to get things done. I have a phone now and I made the mistake of posting my number on a few recent ads to sell quickly. I got it sold much faster doing it that way, to be honest. However, I definitely did NOT like getting the spam. Reminds me of back in the day when my house phone would ring and it would be like a telemarketer half the time. I remember the old trick to say "hello" and if they didn't respond quickly enough you would know it was a computerized telemarketer. Needless to say, I won't be doing that again. I haven't even done much business yet, not advertising on CL either, and 50% of the time people are late or way late. A couple no shows. It's crazy how some people want things done so fast, but they don't realize if they show up when you tell 'em it'll get done faster. Craigslist is pretty unreliable now. Something you gotta know before you get into it. Something to expect, really. Now doing your business on there isn't too easy either. It works, but it's kind of a pain in the ass. There is A LOT of competition, so you have to repost daily to be anywhere near the top or close enough for someone to stumble upon your ad. We did like 60% of our jobs (constuction) off of Craigslist for like a year. The rest were word of mouth or relatives and friends of.
