Zak,
You can defeat the enrichment jet by plugging off the port that the enrichment needle should be plugging off by temporarily stuffing some chewing gum in there just to test it out to see if it'll rev. It sounds hokey, but racers plug off choke passages with epoxy all the time.

90gtv!? are you out there? i heard you were the wizard. Welcome to the site. Sorry I wasn't around (not usually on much from nearly midnight-4:30am my time when these posts were made), but it doesn't look like I needed to be. ;D JMStar50 is getting you straightened out very well. I'm no more of a wizard or not as much of a wizard as these folks, I just post a lot. lol

sadly i have had no luck, giving the enrichner 12v hasnt fixed the problem back to the drawing board, could all this be caused by poor compression? considering removng the engine/driveline tonight. thanks for your help guys...

The enricher (choke) plunger moves pretty slow. Ya might wanna measure it cold, or take a pic of it, then put the 12v to it, give it a minute, then come back and compare. It should pull back into the body compressing the little plunger spring....Pulling the top-end might be a good idea even if that not the problem. That will give you a chance to see if and how much the piston, rings and cylinder are worn and kinda tell ya about how much life you have left, if any? You might want to pick up a set of gaskets first, at least a base gasket or two in case it rips.

The enricher (choke) plunger moves pretty slow. It should pull back into the body compressing the little plunger spring.... The needle will extend outward a little actually. The way I check a choke is I lay a piece of paper so it's flush with the table's edge and then hold the choke so the choke body is touching the edge of the paper and I mark where the end of the needle is on the paper. Then after voltage is applied for 2 minutes I put the choke back to the paper again. If it moved it'll be apparent. Did you try temporarily plugging off the hole down inside where the choke unit fits into the carb?

If you are worried about compression you could just do a compression test. If you don't have a tester, parts stores may rent them out. It's just a fitting that replaces the spark plug. Then there should be a fitting to attach a supplied gauge. Hold the throttle wide open and crank the engine over. If it's below about 130psi you might wanna pull the top end to have a look. Above that, compression probably isn't the issue. I've got around 125psi in one of my engines right now and it doesn't run bad, just not as strong as it should be.

first off again thanks so much for your time and patience.
i tested the unit, there was definately noticable movement, of a good 10mm.. i discovered the enrichner was not recieving 12v for whatever reason (traced wiring, couldnt find any faults :/) so i quickly arranged something so that it recieves 12v, i didnt consider plugging it as i thought i had fixed the issue? but i might give that another try.
is there a website i can get jog parts? my local scooter shop is owned by a swedish man that doesnt speak much english and not very willing to help haha.

hey guys, finally found some motovation and pulled off the head, the piston is heavily scored and scratched, theres a huge build up on the head of the piston aswell.. the scratches on the piston seem to be only on one side.. regaurdless, id say its definately in need of repair.. 90gtvert, i clicked those lnks of your 70cc upgrade kits, do you have anymore available? if i find the gudgeon pin size? could i organise purchase ?
