is this the only way to reduce the kickback? I'm also having starting issues with electric start i know i need a new battery but i think the starter is not strong enough to kick over the engine all the time. I want to upgrade all the battery cables and install a bigger battery. What battery would you guys suggest. Also i havnt installed the oil pump the kit came with should i change it out and there is a plastic sprocket that came with the kit where does this go. www.ebay.com/itm/150986329487?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

no need to install the oil pump from the kit. you need to do a compression test, your kick back and hard starting issues are most likely very high compression. let us know what the reading is. do the test properly for correct reading. put some oil down the spark plug hole and hold the throttle wide open when spinning it over. lets see what the reading is before we start throwing more parts at it

I installed the 8grams rollers last night really didnt feel a difference but there in there now and since i had tranny apart i moved the kickstart to 1'o clock position. it so much easier to kick start now without the kick taking a beating. thanks @1fastqmb i will do a compression test asap. I know i do need a battery though and i might as well get a bigger one what do you recommend for a battery. I saw your thread about upgrading the cables and willing to do that if i have too. ohh i can do now

I take my rubber mallet and bang one side of the rocker assembly, the side where the holes are and the other side will pop out, works every time

Autozone does not have just the 10mm adapter and the compression tester rental they have only has 14mm and 18mm. Seems like if was in a local parts house I would have gotten it I went through all this last year and ended up on ebay.
The $40 tester Autozone sells has 10,12,14 and 18mm
I use a $15 ebay gauge and that adapter above i posted the link to.

Since i wasnt able to get a compression tester I went ahead and disassembled and reassembled the motor and installed an extra base gasket and set the valves set at .004 intake, .005 exhaust this morning. I havnt tried to start it since i finished at 3am and didnt want to wake everyone up. Hopefully this lowers the compression to where the electric start can start the engine.
