Nothing beats gasoline for immediately devastating wasps on a nest you want down. WD does leave a protective lubricative film on things after the lighter components evaporate but some people say that it attracts water and can actually cause rust. It is good for removing certain adhesives. One other powerful solvent, paint remover, adhesive, tar, grease remover is Avon's Skin So Soft. You gotta be careful where you get that stuff. And as long as I'm thread treading I'll turn you guys on to a great hand-cleaning combo if you're outta the legit stuff. Make a paste of baking soda and and dish detergent then rinse after rubbing off all the grease. If you got cuts on your hands the detergent will burn a bit. Baking soda and Skin So Soft would probably work great too.

WD 40 does have some lubricating qualities, but the oils are so thin they quickly evaporate. I've used WD 40 for bug spray, it works extremely well on all kinds of bugs and flying insects. I remember hitting hornets with it in Oregon and watching them take off about a 45 degree climb to about 25 feet or so and then fall almost straight down dead right to the ground, LOL it reminded me of old war movies where a plane is shot down and it sputters and heads straight down. If nothing else it makes a great bug killer and it's not toxic like RAID, and it smells decent. The little straw that comes with the can is perfect for shooting a stream at that hairy spider, cockroach, hornet, ant nest, crickets or whatever. Thanks! I have an ant problem right now and I've been using Windex. It kills them but after it dries their buddies come along and continue where the dead left off. A good shot of some quality carcinogenic WD40 should keep those little bastards gone for a week or two.

I spilled some soda on my keyboard yesterday and the space bar was sticking. After a bunch of Windex and water it still stuck after it dried so lo-and-behold, WD40 to the rescue! My keyboard smells like that crap now.

Wd-40 & pb blaster arent good at all for lubrication. But good for moisture repeling & freeing up stuff. Pb works great to remove oxidation on painted areas.spray on a rag & wipe.

I use WD-40 in one situation only, when I have engine parts that are cleaned and bare metal I will coat them in WD-40 if the parts are to stay on the shelf for any time. They will not rust because of the coating. When I am ready to install the parts I clean them again real quick and put them together.
It drives me when people run to WD-40 for anything else and then wonder why the squeak came back or the parts are still rusted on.
If you are heading into mud and want to coat your plastic it also works good and the mud will fall off with a hose.
For rust I use a Loctite product called SolvoRust and the stuff works miracles.

I use WD-40 if I chill/freeze a crankshaft/bearings. I also spray it on steel parts that will be stored to keep rust away, unless it's a car engine or something big. Then I tend to wipe it down with motor oil. I've seen people use it as a stain remover. Someone told me to use it to get pain out of clothes tried it and I didn't work plus it left a large grease like stain I woudnt suggest it

Wd-40 is an awesome coolant for doing clean up passes when machining aluminum. Its also good for putting grips on handlebars. Not sure why but it works. Old timers with arthritis used to rub it on there sore joints.

WD-40 is not recommended for any medical uses.
It does work good to spray foam air cleaner elements.

I too prefer PB Blaster, but I have heard from people fishing in the Detroit river that WD-40 on their lures attracts fish.. I just figured the fish are so used to toxic baitfish that they'll bite anything with a toxic smell. lol
