I got the Vino on the road! Its a fun little ride! Loads of low end torque, and topped out @ 45.59 mph on its first 12 mile ride. I have not tuned anything beyond the airscrew from the inital setup, and everything is real close to being right on the money. How lucky was that? Not all luck though, gotta say thanks to moofus02 for the reed cage, or it would not have been finished today, and of course usmcdoc for the cyl kit, and the help he provided along the way. The only thing I am shre to change is the clutch springs. The 1500 springs I installed on this 2 shoe clutch are just too much. I am not sure at what RPM the clutch engages at, but when it does it snatches off the line hard. No doubt the belt is moving up out of "low gear" before the scooter even starts moving! cant wait so see what low gear has really got with the right clutch springs. Now for the bad stuff. Got a call from my wife today while I was at the warehouse working on the Vino. My wife and daughter were riding the honda nighthawk, and were stopped at a red light at a busy intersection when a lady making a turn, and talking on a cell phone clipped her front wheel. It knocked them and the bike over. The wife skinned her knee, and ankle a bit, my daughter just fell on her butt. They were not really hurt, but they were understandably shook up quite a bit. The lady ended up just leaving the scene because they were "OK" The wife called me to retrieve them and the bike. The bike did not fare very well. The footrest is bent, the front brake lever is broke, front blinker broke, scratches, but the worst part is the forks are tweaked, and the front wheel may be bent. I had the wife call the police to fill out a report when I got her home. I told the cop it is likely totaled, but in his expert opinion, he said it was not! WTF! I explained to him that its a 23 year old bike and worth around 1800 at best. He disagreed and said it nope. I guess it was extra paperwork or something if it was totaled, I dont know. It time to get back on the Vino for me...I need some therapy! Bye! Glad they are ok..sux about the bike and the Cops actions. But just how some of them roll..I had a new Scoot stolen..I found the yard it was parked in..took my MCO up to it and matched the VIN!! I still had that and the original keys for it..so I called the Police and an Officer showed up. He told me to stay put and he would go check it out..looked at my MCO..wrote down the VIN and left. I let him get a bit down the road and hopped on my 56mph+ Jonway Hornet 2t and followed him. He went right past the house and NEVER stopped..just went back to the station. I called and told them I would just go get it and was told I would arrested for Trespassing if I did..wtf?.. Anyway..told ya those BBK's had power.. A tip though!! Yes that power and high torque will cause the CVT to shift soon..so do this and take it from a person with lots of experience with that BBK. KEEP the 1.5k clutch springs and toss in a 1k or 1.5k contra spring. Why?? This is what will happen..nelson a few others here will concur too.. You will still have that jet like launch I did warn ya about with this kit..HOWEVER..the stronger contra spring will keep it from 'shifting' too soon..so now you will have a slingshot launch followed by a speedy acceleration to top end..and at top end if your weights are right(some use 5-5.5 or 6 gram for best performance) If that is what ya use now..once you hit top end the weights will extend the CVT to 'high ratio'..the rpms will drop a bit and you will keep your fast cruising speed. When you back off throttle to take a curve or something and need to get back up to speed quick...the heavy contra spring will 'downshift' enough so that when you bust open the throttle again..you should already be right about the beginning of the engines powerband..so off you go again in a flash. But 45.59mph was with a stock pipe?? That is pretty good for a stock pipe..wow.. I get just a bit over 56+mph but I am using a cheaper tuned pipe..the Tecnigas Next R. Oh btw it is not broken in yet..so it does get better. What jet size did ya end up using? I have one left but plan on getting more..wish I could sell them cheaper but I already sell them right at cost + they pay shipping. I need to get one to Brian(moofus02) cause he did help with my 'Proprietary parts my ass' stator project.. Gonna order a few more of the kits Monday I think..cause I have run Polini..Malossi and Airsal kits that were really no more impressive than these are...yet 4 times the price.. Enjoy your new ride and if ya need any more parts etc..let me know..and keep us updated on how well you get it going once ya really get in there and tune it.. Glenn

Good to hear your family is okay. Too bad about the bike but that as you know is fixable. Guess the wife can't get on you for spending time wrenching on her bike.

I have put 78 miles on the vino since yesterday afternoon, and I gotta say it is the most fun scooter I have ridden so far. I cant imagine this thing in a 90cc version. Although it is a little small for a big boy its still fairly comfortable overall. I played with the variator weights a good bit, but it looks like the 5 gram ones I started with will be the best overall. The 1K contra spring may be just a little stiff, So I may try the stock contra spring, and add a BB base to stiffen it up just a bit. I am sure the stock clutch springs are the ones for me, because the 1.5K springs just grab to hard on the launch with all my weight. At the moment, the 1K contra, and 6gram sliders in the variator give me a top speed of 42.86 MPH @ 7560 RPM What would happen if I tried the giant tuned pipe that was on this thing when I got it? Likely not a good idea.

Here is that old pipe next to a NEXT-R It makes all else look puny! You have a Tecnigas Next R pipe? Is that what you are running? I run that pipe with the same kit and my Adly will burn all the way up to 56mph fast and easy. If you put a pipe on..use the Next R..you'll see..it will be a whole new Ball game over the stock pipe yer running... You WILL feel a definite powerband from about 6.5k through 9k...it will fizzle out about 9k...but by then you will be going so fast you won't want any more speed.. Btw.that top pipe is the Next R for 50-70cc..the bottom looks like their 100cc pipe. Use the Blue one..it is a perfect match for that BBK..

Damm near melted the big end of the rod off of the crank! That big fat bottom pipe looks nothing like my 100cc next r. I would offer to buy it from you but the wife just started talking to me again today after about 4 days of silence. She didn't say anything she didn't have to or even yell I was getting worried. Back to the big pipe my 100cc next r has a head pipe in sections that step up in size that one looks like a tapered head pipe. Looks to be better than mine. If you shoot 190mech the dimensions on it he could give you a better idea but it looks better than mine Sent from my SPH-L720 using proboards

I have never ridden one of docs kits without a pipe. When I built the engine I put a leo vince zx-r on it. I have 5.5 g sliders, 1500rpm clutch spring and a 1500rpm contra. I is perfect for me and don't see it getting better with stock cvt. It is quick and I have hotel 54 mph so far. The throttle is crisp! 25 50 mph it is all power!

That's the setup I used on one of the first kits on a Jonway Hornet that I sold to ryan..except I used a stock pipe which was ok..then when I put a 'real' pipe on there it was turbo charged.. same as yours is though 25-50 was all power and it got there fast! Then I put one of the same kits in my Adly with a Next R pipe...same sliders clutch and contra spring which made it a Sprint Car of sorts.. I would zip stop light to stop light and wait for the cagers to cage up with me at the next light.. My fave is...I go 30mph in the right lane..they come up behind me then pass me in the left lane...so I crack the throttle hit 50 in a flash..wait for them at the next light and wave when they show up beside me... @ moofus02 I still have a few kits left and more coming in.. I owe you a favor for the parts I needed for my 'proprietary' Stator project that you donated and dropped off. Gonna give ya your stator and flywheel back since I built my own from a Jog backplate and GY6 125 6 pole stator and it works great. What flavor do ya need? 12mm or 10mm wristpin? Also what ya gonna put it in?..just curious. @ oldgeek...are we gonna get a vid of you riding that Vino? Also temporarily try that blue Next R pipe ya have on it...you'll never go back to the stock pipe..

I truly had a blast riding the Vino this past weekend. Blowing off steam, terrorizing the tourists that were riding the rental scoots, playing cat and mouse with them! I really need to figure a way to make decent videos of some of my rides.
I got some possible good news this evening about my wifes NightHawk. While I only carried collision insurance, it appears my under-insured motorist insurance will kick in since the lady fled the scene. An adjuster is coming to look at the bike sometime this week. If the damage fits the incident as described, it will be covered. I dont know what if any deductible there will be, but at least we have some chance at getting something. I feel that since the value of the bike is rather low, it may be considered totaled. I would rather have it fixed, as it is a decent low miles bike perfect for my wife.

The insurance adjuster came to look at the Nighthawk today. She was here for almost 2 hours! It worked out pretty good though. I did not get quite what I had in the bike, but I did get to buy it back for crazy CHEAP! I figure $250.00 in parts, and around 6 hours of my labor and it will be good to go, as long as the forks line up ok. I am hoping I can loosen the triple tree, and tweak things back into alignment.
I have priced OEM stuff from BikeBandit, but was wondering if anyone knows a cheaper source for the parts?
