So I picked up a 2001 Yamaha Bws R (Pre-bug eye) today for $450 with only 1500kms on it. I bought it for the wife so I'm not 100% what motor mods I'm going to do. I do know that I'm going to make it look 100% brand new. She wants it that Vespa mint color and black...... Either way I'm stoked to have a new project, and will post pics as I go.

Someone said they are easier to wheelie than the latter zumas. I've always liked the look of those

When I loaded it in my truck I couldn't believe how light it was. The bug eye zumas are tanks compared to the pre bugs. I could see myself swapping my aerox wheels on this and giving the bug eye to the wife. I'm really liking the pre bug. Some of the fairing kits you can buy for these are super badass.

It has some cracks and scratches here and there but nothing serious. If I would of knew how much stuff I was going to replace on my bug eye I would of started out with a junker.

I had a BWS really liked it. It has 24,000 miles on it now and still goes well. My son has it now, but I brought it for my wife originally, then I had it when she brought a bigger scooter.

It's alive! I bought it without knowing if it ran. It was -20 here when I bought it and it had been sitting in a unheated garage for a year. So today I replaced the battery, drained the old gas and cleaned the carb and filter. I also replaced the spark plug with the right one..... C mon man! Anyways it started right up and purrs like a kitten.

Just placed an order for all new body panels, floor boards the works. I got the body panels in white and everything else in black so it will match my other scoot. Every part was a "special order" so I'm thinking minimum of a month before I'll see this stuff. I want to try and get everything in two orders to keep shipping costs down. As for the motor everything is going to come from scooter-attack. I want this build to be quite and not so rev happy as my other scoot ( low end torque is what I want) I'm leaning toward the Top Performance trophy black edition 70cc kit scootertuning.ca/en/7_top-performance, the stage6 touring exhaust or whatever it's called (the one that looks stock) malossi reed block, and a 17.5mm dell carb. I'm going to stick with all stage6 stuff for the trans. I think this combo should give me what I'm looking for. Any suggestions for a low revving torque machine would be greatly appreciated.

Keep the stock exhaust if you want torque/ do stunts. It's the best ! Top performance engine is the best suited for torque. Stock or 19mm carb to prevent overheat best clutch you can get oem gearing O/r cvt for deeper gear if you want it (easier to start and keep a wheelie) That's what local stunters use What fairings have you ordered ?
