If you are asking how the oil pump works, its is driven by a gear off of the crankshaft and pumps oil from the tank to the carb according to the throttle setting.

I've never taken one apart to tell you what they look like inside. I just remove mine and throw 'em away so I can premix. This is about the best I can do for oil pump pics...

I just built a 70cc bbk Zuma and I am getting no oil from the pump. Do I need to prime it? How would you do that? I tried my vacuum pump and that didnt work.

There is an air bled screw which seems to be horizontal from the pictures in an 02-05 shop manual. It seems to be above the pump output on or near the flange at the outer end of the pump assembly. The procedure is to remove the screw and allow oil to emerge until until all air bubbles cease to come out. Replace screw making sure the gasket under the head is in good shape. Run the engine at 2000 rpm for 2-3 minutes to further purge the line. Any way, find service manuals from this page: scootertime.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1081

Well lucky me I managed to destroy a perfectly good Polini bbk thanks to this damn oil pump. I removed it and tried to prime it but it didnt work so well. SO for this first tank on this new kit im running premix until the oil pump can prime itself.

Sorry you've had so much trouble. If it's yours, I'd throw the oil pump in the trash. If it's a customers, I'd suggest premix. This shows exactly why premix is a better choice IMO. You KNOW the correct amount of oil is in there.

I agree. I had a few old Yamaha Enduros back in the 80's and they all had oil injectors that were disabled when I got them. It's much better to mix it in the tank so you have one less thing to fail on you 30 miles from home.
