Stumped. Use the onboard sound for now. Do you have a warranty on that sound card?

I doubt its a 5 year warranty. It was installed from HP when I got the PC new.
I looked up those trouble codes and tried some suggestions I saw, but nothing works.

I can't think of anything else you havn't tried. It's gotta be either in the drivers, settings, or it's the card itself. Tried removing from device manager, and reinstalling Updated drivers, uninstalled reinstalled BIOS set to Auto Removed, and cleaned... It could be like one of those things, happens at the same time, totally unrelated to the first problem, Had any good storms lately? The card could have been damaged that way or when you were working in there... You said the onboard sound works ok though without the card in? Just loses the extra features of the soundblaster? If Reign has any other idea's ? It's so much easier when you have extra computers and parts to swap and test I'd be shopping for a different card to try, preferably from a place I could return it if it won't work. If you know what kind of slot you have, and they still sell them for it What slot do you have?

lol It's not so ancient that I can't get parts. It's PCI. I know there is a lot of PCIe stuff these days, but it's no problem fidning a card. I might just enable the onboard stuff and see how much it annoys me for music and movies. It's been a long time since I used onboard audio on anything.
No bad storms in this time frame. I coulda zapped it doing an install I guess. Hard to say.

LOL , it,s probably been that long since I bought a sound card, so PCI is not totaly gone now? I should go buy a computers for dummies just to catch up. I need to rebuild my old tower sometime soon.

Na. PCI isn't hard to find. 7.1 is available cheap... and even the built in stuff is 7.1. I enabled onboard audo and checked it out. It sounds kinda dead compared to before. Where's the bass? Oh well, it's free and I gotta pay for the last repair stuff first. Then I'll probably try a new sound card. Lookin' at THIS for a future purchase. I've never owned anything but Sound Blaster. Kinda wanna try something different and this gets good reviews. Lots of reviews saying there are no hassles with drivers. Thanks again for all the help.

Well, finally, my computer is not quite as stupid (or at least as slow) as it used to be. On my fourth try I finally have doubled my RAM (256 to 512 MB.... wow, right). This el-cheapo eMachines (and antique now) T1125 sure was picky about the style of module that it recognizes. Reign told me that and it certainly is a fact. I'm glad the eBay vendors were very willing to work with me and refund my money. I think computers have displaced children now as the leading cause of baldness.

lol Well, glad you finally got it going. I bought an eMachines PC for my parents one Xmas a few years ago. Worst computer any of us ever owned. I forget the exact problems now, but it didn't stick around long. I ended up giving them an old Alienware PC that I got in 2001. They are still using it today with very few issues. I replaced a power supply in it and I think that's about it in 9 years. Oh and a graphics card, but that was more of an update than a repair.

This one has been about average as far as repairs are concerned. I think it was bought in 2002. The original 256 MB RAM, the HD and then the PS gave up the ghost. This recent RAM replacement was just an upgrade. I cleaned out the dust from MB, processor and PS when I replaced the RAM today. BTW should the processor fan blow in or suck out? I have it sucking out since that puts the label outwards. With the flash memory doubled It seems like it's three times faster. ;D
