If anyone was wondering. Standard clutch springs are just a tad longer than the clutch springs on my sb50 morini engine. I put them on and my clutch just went to perpetual on mode. I guess I'll leave the stock springs in and lighten the shoe with a few holes! I'm a bit disappointed, but it is a lesson for anyone else. Do the standard minarelli clutch springs fit a morini sb 50? NO! Do the contra springs fit? It is tight, but it fits!
I should have just changed my scoot long ago when I realized that I was in the minority! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

At least you can save 'em for when you get a minarelli someday. It does kinda suck that Minarelli and GY6 motors are the only ones that you can find parts for easily. You can certainly get parts for other models, but nothing like those.

As much as I like my UM/Hyosung, aftermarket parts are a bear to find...Alpha Motorsports carries every stock part I need for my particular scooter but the prices are so off the hook that I may just as well be buying parts for a BMW; I'm not kidding guys and gals, give them a gander. Next scoot is going to be well thought out as to replacement parts availability and performance accessories.

GY6 50, GY6 150, Minarelli 2T
Those are the best ones to get your hands on for parts availability and performance parts. A moped with the old Honda style/pitbike motors have a lot of engine parts available as well.
Some of the stuff is high at Alpha, some isn't bad. I did notice a rectifier is $60 there!

I just realized something as I was trying to solve a different problem. All of these items that are not fitting my scooter are starting to frustrate me. The only thing that has fit my scoot are the sliderweights, OR DO THEY FIT? I dropped them in and the fit fine by the width, but what if their circumfrance is not big enough? I cant get into the highest gear because the sliders are actually smaller. I just used the very common 15x12. They seemed to fit fine, I assumed the lower speed was from the lighter weight. >>>>
But now considering nothing else is a standard size, why would the rollers/sliders be standard?

Do you have a set of calipers to measure with? A set of those would help allot. The 15x12,s will fit in about any vari because they are the smallest size out there. If you could measure that would solve allota frustration, or prevent it anyhow . Can you show us some pics? Im wondering why the clutch springs wouldnt fit? I have switched em all around scoot to scoot and they all seem to fit.?. GY6, Minarelli, Kymco(is GY6), Aprilia (Morini), even a Honda. Yes i even worked on a Honda once or twice lol . They all were a little different in some way or another but still fit and worked. If you can show me some pics or measurements i might have what you need?

Brent, did you check out the price of a stock muffler? Major components are astronomical! Not that it poses a problem but if you wreck your scoot, it's gonna take some serious green to put it back together again; the bright side is they do have parts available to maintain it in a stock condition, at least that's good. Red, are you looking forward to returning to Canada?

$160 is a bit steep for a stock exhaust. lol Motivation to find something aftermarket.

I have calipers, I just didn't think to measure them. The contra springs do fit, but they are tight. So tight that I have to twist them to fit over the TD sleeve. which is strange because the nut that hold the clutch on is smaller than other scoots. I felt like opening the pulley needed more brute force than it should. I know the springs are tighter but it was more than that. The slider /roller difference is still just a theory, because I haven't fished the old ones out of my tool box yet.

Oh and NO, I'm not really looking forward to returning to Canada. Other than the ease of ordering a coffee or other mundane things that I can do in English. I love Korea and I love the kids I teach. Today is the last day before summer vacation and I was bombarded by many goodbye letters and questions and "I LOVE YOU"s .
It's going to be really hard to go back to Canada. The hardest thing is that the Grade 6 class this year will graduate in January, (their school year runs march to January) was my first class that I taught. I was also their first school English Teacher. So for some their only English Teacher! And I won't see them graduate.

Sounds like your a heck of a good teacher Joe. I know they will miss you as well as you missing them. At least you are leaving knowing you did a good job and were loved by doing what you do. Helping others to learn to be good people! Great work man  ! You should be proud of yourself!
As far as the torque spring fitting so tight, it shouldnt! If its that tight it will bind up for sure, limiting belt travel drastically.

That's gotta be tough. The best teachers are the ones who "like" the students. On the other hand you have to pass them on to the next teacher every year. Even one good teacher among many poor ones can make an impact on those students lives. My youngest is heading into 7th this year, you make a big impact at that age, they are just getting to know themselves, and what interests them. It is great work.

Thanks everyone! It is hard to pass the students on to the next teacher. Luckily I am a subject teacher so I have been able to carry the relationship through a few years with some of the classes. My school is small by S.K. standards, and I teach just 5th and 6th grade. but that is 350 students. 5 grade five classes and 5 grade six classes and 35 students per class. Huge by Canadian school standards. I will also miss the other teachers I have worked with over the years, and of course I'll miss the money, until I start working when I get home. I am excited to think I'll be back in N.A. and there's a possibility I might get to a TNG event.
By the way to get back on the topic!!! Original rollers are 16x12

Usually it's 15x12 or 16x13. I'd use 16x13s.
