:scoot2: I have a Motofino 50 QT 10D can i swap out the 50cc GY6 for A 150 GY6 ? will it just bolt right in ,or do i have to modify anything ? if so ,what ? will i have to change the gearing in the final drive trans?

It won't work unless you get out the welder and do some cutting and modifying of the frame because the engine mounts are completely different. It's also gonna have a different stator coil so the wiring will have to be spliced in by someone who knows what they're doing because the plug connection will differ most likely. If you currently have 10 inch tires then you'll want to use a short case 150cc engine. You can see that the engine mounts are on top of the case on the 150cc and the bottom on a 50cc. 50cc:  Long and short case 150cc:  |

Until someone starts making "bolt-in" engine swap kits, I don't really recommend swaps to anyone without metal welding and fabrication skills.... and a lot of patience. I've swapped different styles and sizes of engines into other things, never done an engine swap on a scooter. Sometimes things go smooth and faster than expected and sometimes you end up with a headache trying to get all of the details right.

Looks like the 150 engines would be a closer fit in a Mina 2 stroke frame..

A week or so ago I found a CL listing of a 50 that had had a 250 swapped in. I started to post it but decided not to.

I think a 139qmb long case has the mount up top but don't know how easy or difficult it would be to do the swap to a 157qmj.

The 50cc's mounts are on the bottom long and short.

Then the adverts I saw showing a long case 139 mislead me...perhaps they were showing a pic of a qmj as a qmb! Thanks Fox, now I feel really stupid! :doh:

I read that there are oddball 50s out there with the mounts up top. I don't have any more info as far as where to find one etc... though.

Interesting, but I think I'd take a 90cc 2T over the 250 4T. I dunno.
