But any other idea's? i'd start there, 90GTVert gave you sound advice also. its worth checking everything as you go if problems persist, but if your plug is black and wet looking, thats a sign of running rich. if you have an open hiflow air filter then to go leaner up in your throttle youll likely need a smaller main jet. your fuel screw could be set way too rich also, and causing you to soak the plug up while idling/low throttle range. it wont affect it so much at wide open, just a little.. but it will still add a little bit of fuel even up there. if your vacuum lines are all sound, and intake manifold is tight on carb, and nothing sucking air anywhere, and your crankcase has ventilation.... if that plug's black and wet looking, i'd start with tuning my carb

It wasn't wet looking, just completely black. Should i run seafoam through the engine when i get it running again to clean out all the gunk?

I'm waiting on the kickstart gear since i can't electrically start it with the bbk. So that's in the mail, along with a few little fixy things. I'm gonna get the guy running again next weekend, but also next weekend i'm buying a 2003 Kawasaki Ninja 250 that has been converted to a cafe racer!!!

try to imagine this. So you have increased the capacity 100% and possibly used a crankshaft that occupies more space in the crankcase so you have less free space in your crankcase. Your crankcase is normally vented via the rocker cover and assisted by vacumn eg its hooked up to the airbox your crankcase has too much pressure a catch can would help
put that in your pipe and smoke it [childhood saying predates my knowledge of Pot]

Here's a writeup 90GTVert has posted: 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/997/crankcase-ventingthat hose can be had cheap from a hardware store. those PCV breather filters are available on ebay for under $3 a piece. in his setup, the hose has enough length (and height up from motor) to accomodate oil blowout, and then let it drain back in to the engine. with a filter on top to keep the nasties out. i really like this setup. you could use a pill bottle and ziptie it somewhere, and run a hose into it to catch oil blowout too. use it as an oil catch. i guess thats a personal choice - i prefer my stuff filtered.

That's genius, i'll add that in this next weekend if weather permits work. I'll probably go on a drive to get the feel for my new ninja too.
