I know what you mean Brent, and I was not saying I was in total agreement. On the other hand, a stroker, big bore kit and a cam together with proper exhaust and carburation would be a total package and give the most bang (but take some bucks). I know, you should toss in a port and polish too, high output ignition, it could never stop.

I just think it depends what you are looking for. Looking at what Goosey has posted so far, I'd say it worked pretty well for her. I'm just hoping she comes back and gives us some crazy top speed number! ;D

Back to scooters,... I did get me an A8 cam to try out, in hopes of lowering the clickety clack but not lose that boost. And I added some old lockers in my scooter shed that the mill was throwing out. And got a cheap GPS for acurate results, but I have not had time to tear her down again to complete the full CVT/CAM combo experiment. Honest I will post. May not be till spring :scared:  It's been a hectik end of summer. Had 2 funerals, family and friend. I bought my 100 year old house. Lot of spare time and cash spent working on it ( and working extra hours to pay for it ), instead of my poor neglected scooter The river flooded and collapsed houses down the road, and closed all but the bridge I live next to for a bit, the one under construction, and closed the roads I ride to work on for a few weeks, Scooter riding nitemare. My previous dumper caused a rotator cuff injury that developed over time :stars: makes hanging doors, painting, knocking out walls, chain sawing trees, a bit painful. I could go on

Wow. Well, sorry for all of the misfortune... but thank you for taking the time to still stop by and even update us with all that going on.

Thanks Brent, most of the misfortune was around me, water didn't hit my house, old thing has a granit basement hah, 3 down the street built in the 50's are up on lifts right now. I was almost road closed in for a bit, had a day of worry if I could get home to my dogs. Working through the depression by over doin things and messing up my shoulder more. Well thanks for the kick in the butt ( interest ), I have no projects in mind today (day off, yeah!), and it's still warm enough in the afternoons, think it took about 3 hours to tear it down and back last time, and saturday traffic isn't so bad for testing.. this will be with the A8 cam and the current CVT upgrades. For those considering these upgrades, the variator and clutch upgrades on there own didn't ad a lot of top end, 1-2 mph. However, a smoother takeoff, and a steady top end was there. While stock the top speed WOT was up and down 52-55, she held steady at 57 with the upgrades. For a cost of $250-$350, up to you if it's worth it. Both the A8 and A9 are sold as ok with a stock engine. No changes to the exhaust, or carborator have been made at this point. I'll try and post results tonight if all goes well.

Update w/A8 Cam: GPS read pretty much -2 mph at top speed compared to chinometer ( fairly accurate at low speeds ), so revise the speed with CVT upgrades to 55mph ( previous top speed 53mph stock ) With A9 and stock CVT 59mph, not happy with the extra noise. With A8 and upgrades on CVT ( 12gm sliders, teflon coated variator, performance clutch, and clutch pulley w/longer gates belt )58.6mph on the GPS, 61 on the chinometer. I do not have a tach on this scooter so can't give you anything there. I am pleased with the 5mph improvement from stock, and the A8 CAM gave a much better sound for me than the A9, almost unnoticed change in noise. At WOT it did not sound like it was pushing limits.

Nice results. I think I'd stay with the noisy cam given those results, but you'll probably see less wear over time this way and it's all about making the ride enjoyable for you. Thanks for the updates. Definitely sounds like cams work without big bore kits and stroker cranks to me.

LOL, yes they work. The extra 1 or 2 mph are just not worth the noise for me. I have yet to change my exhaust out..or the airbox for that matter ( I have yet to pull the restrictor out of the airbox, how sad is that? ). A lower tone might make the A9 tollerable.
