Ahh..ok..so you put like a 'deck' or cover over the cargo bin up front and mounted it here? Kinda looks that way in the pic. I have seen that stereo on Ebay...but was cautious about it. Does it work and sound ok?

Does it work and sound ok? well it worked ok for like 2 months but it developed a short in it I still get power but no sound unless I hold my mouth just right as faras loudness it was ok on just the radio but iif u hook mp3 up u had to adjust the equaliser but all in all I wouldn't recomend it but I did see some nice motorcycle speakers with mini amp that had fm radio for bout 80$ if I decide to try again that's what I'd go with and again can't remember the name though

I used to use a Shark 100W stereo on my Venus. Worked well for me. Mounting speakers higher makes a big difference in the sound at speed. I tried putting a speaker down lower and couldn't get it loud enough to be happy with it. Only problem is I thought they looked silly on the handlebars. I could ride at 50MPH with a full face on and hear the music alright though. Used to have vids of it showing dB levels and riding sounds, but YouTube is not a fan of music in videos so I had to take them down. If you go for it again consider something that keeps the amp out of the elements and mount it with some sort of vibration dampening. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/1416/shark-100w-stereo-installation-info

I think that song was in the riding video that got taken down. [/img] *Usually* I turned it down in town. There's a 50ft noise law here (if the officer can hear your music 50ft away you get a $50 fine) and I've got the tickets in cars on multiple occasions so I know they will pull you over for it. Not that the stereo is super loud, but open air I'm sure it was good for over 50ft cranked. There is some guy that rolls by my house on a Goldwing that BLASTS music. Sounds terrible, but wow it is loud. I'll just be working on something in the garage and hear Whitney Houston screaming by. lol If that's stock, maybe we should look into used Goldwing stereos. Might sound pretty good when not turned to 11 and obviously designed for moto use.

Here in my town the police will not pull over someone with loud music. People complained that it violates their civil rights and targets minorities so they quit...WTF

I don't understand how that targets minorities. That seems like an ignorant statement by the townsfolk. Maybe I'm missing something, but that would be like saying harsher penalties for speeds above 100MPH target rich people because they are likely to drive faster cars. I know rap has bass and that is what gets played loud mostly (at least around here) so I can only guess they're going in that direction, but for one you don't have to be a minority to play rap loud, and second I was pulled over the first time blasting the theme from Ghostbusters, then PanterA one night, and I got yelled at by a cop over another metal tune I can't recall, and I had a cop give me the volume gesture while playing Pearl Jam years ago (kinda ashamed of that lol). 50ft seems like too little of a distance though, that's stock stereo territory. I used to have the Knight Rider light under my hood in my old Firebird and I saw my friends walk out into the road a full 1/4 mile away because they heard the Knight Rider theme coming (can't use the light without it IMO). At that point it should prob be just cause to get pulled over.
Anyway, sorry your build thread has been sidetracked a bit Thunder.

Damn that sucks! Seems like we're hearing of stolen scoots more and more. I guess I'd better start carrying some sort of chain if I go in a store or somewhere. Hope you find it bud!

Damn Bro that sucks I'm sorry to hear that. Got mine stolen too just recently. It's like a personal attack when you've put so much time and energy into your baby. It's been like 3 weeks for me and my head is still on a swivel looking for it all times... Eyeballing every scoot that looks even close to being it... Sorry Bro.

Sorry to hear the bad news. I liked it better when no one wanted our scoots. I rarely even see other people riding around here and cops pulled me over and said they've had multiple scoots stolen lately.

Remind me to never visit you on my scooter Jwhood. If I saw stuff like that around here I doubt I'd be riding. I've only been in large cities like DC and Baltimore a handful of times and it feels like a different world to me. I actually wanted to take a scoot to Baltimore to ride around sometime, just because it's so much different, but yeah I might pass.
