For just an oil change that's way too much, but it's common practice for dealers to do more of an inspection on the first service. $60 isn't bad for that and it is a good thing if they are checking for what's mentioned plus loose fasteners, brake adjustment, and things like that as well. Within about the first 500 miles is when I found most of the things that would loosen up had done so.

ya dude it sounds about right. mechanics around here pull anywhere from 45 to 75 bucks an hour for labor. you could buy a set of feeler gauges and a quart of oil for about $8, but you got to pay somebody for their time if they're workin on it.

Being someone that used to work on scoots, to me if you had to watch me do it you had to take it elsewhere. I'm not a big fan of people looking over my shoulder and it would make me nervous and do worse work anyway. Some people won't mind, some people don't like it at all. Some simply won't for insurance reasons (customer/shop safety). I get what you're saying though. If it's not making noise and nothing falls apart after you get it back, it's easy enough to just say you did it.

dox.... please consider learning the basics. your wide open to being took advantage of. the way i was raised... was if ya can't change the oil on it and take care of it, you got no business riding it.
i mean no offense my good sir/mam. just saying... changing the oil involves one socket, one coffee can, and one quart of oil. its less complicated than flossing. hope youll consider at least learning the basics. lot less waiting, headaches, and being blind to what they say is or isnt wrong.

Something smells Fishy! Do your homework. Is shop ran by Dewey, Cheatem & how? ^ what he said they coulda set your valves wrong but since they know you dont work on motors (you brought it in for an oil change) its up to them whether they tell you they messed something up and fix it like they should.... or pass the blame on to you and charge you more money. maybe they're straight-up.. idk. and i really aint meaning to upset you more dox.. you can figure that scooter out dont be scared of it man everyone jumps in and learns at some point. believe in yourself and youll be amazed what you can get done on it.

If they are going to go through it like they say I agree with Brent. However I find satisfaction in doing things myself and knowing they are done correctly. Hell I like wrenching as much as riding. Maybe that's not your thing and that's cool but having the knowledge and ability and choosing not to beats the hell out of giving a stranger all the power. Hope that makes sense. We're here to help and none of us know it all. Dave
