Updates.
Best guess is the variator is worn, unstable and damaging the belts. When i cleaned out the first belt that shredded a few weeks ago i didn't see that a lot of it had probably worked it's way into the starter area. When this last belt started waring out it must have built up a bit more and jammed the starter gears completely.
All cleaned out now and a new variator on the way. Riding the "little Guy" for now.
As far as me, my leg didn't hurt too bad the next day but my wrist was killing me. Better now but still hurts some.
All in all not that big a deal but it did get me thinking about what it would be like to own a brand new ultra dependable japanese scoot. But then what fun would that be? ;D

Darn Tim sounds like you were having a day for sure. Hows the spark plug looking? Meaning I wonder how hot your engine is getting at high rpm? Could have something to do with why your burning through belts.
