Last weekend I went to go get a backup key for my grey Vespa. I had a chance to take her on the freeway. I replaced the ABS pulsar ring with a new part that I found in scootering magazine (h/t to milly). The previous limit was 74mph. I got 80mph on this one easy. She was still pulling away.

It's a bit too cold to ride for any length of time, and besides, everything is closed anyway. After having put 600 miles on my new motorcycle, I decided to get the scoot out and give it a proper wash. Fired 'er up and rode around the block - wow it was so weird. First thought was, man, can't believe I do 60 on this thing! Felt like a little kid learning to ride for the first time, turning bars left and right thinking it was gonna fall over. Also noted that the exhaust is getting a little smokey. Do you suppose after 6500 miles of 95% WOT the rings are shot?! If I get around to it this year, the engine deserves a proper tear-down / re-build.

Took Honda FES250 for inspection today and noticed coolant dribs from the area of the thermostat. Engine have been sitting still for months and suddenly it starts to leak from the gasket? A week ago it was clean. Another delay . Also made new steering handle for tricycle.

Went out for a great ride in the sun this afternoon after doing my penance (garden) by order of wifey. Only been able to give it a couple hundred yds road test over the winter when tinkering on it but once kick-started from cold it works on the button every time. Burbles along at 40-50kph must look up what that is in mph. It was so warm about 55f I was down to a t shirt hacking out pyracanthas stumps. Looking forward to riding up some mountain tracks see how it performs tomorrow. That's once cut the damn hedge and mowed the lawn again 😊

I started to set rig gap on motor , bore x.004' So my 57mm needs a ring gap of .0089636 so I'll go .009 they are set to .008 but I run close tolrents so I would rather go the .009mm new piston is 40mg heaver but may last longer going to lower compression from 15.5:1 to 14:1 may be 14.5:1 and colder plug a 9 to stop making holes in top of piston which is from detanation or stay at 15.5:1 and run on race fuel but at $10 per L it's not cheap that's $200 plus oil for 3 tanks of fuel and it uses it, I'm only running a 30mm power jet at moment to save on fuel have ran on a 35mm mukini but I was filling up every second day some time same day but I ride hard lol

You need deep pockets for race fuel.

Today after doing the Vespa I tinkered with the rat and then put it away as in isolation with the rest of the planet at the moment. I hear we have a couple of cases locally now but I have to go and get meds tomorrow and shopping as my 3yr old grandaughter has come down with something so get daughter shoping then my mum. I think I may stock up on chocolate for wifey and pepsi and crisps for me and tabbaco. Looks like work may deploy to work in a hospital if they need a grumpy geriatric old ex nurse in the near future.

Made some new mounting brackets for the air box. The new carb sits out a little more. Twisting the air box. Hope you have more luck than me milly was waiting in line for over an hour on monday to pick up my prescription. Then told me it would be another week before I could collect.

Took the car today to get essentials for about 5 people in isolation today. Queued to get meds but only problem when some ass jumped the queue being more self important than the old people their. I then got on with the Vespa at home got indicators working well put all back together almost, coming along now only the side casing to take off to reposition the kick start mechanism so I can put the kick starter on.

Nice snag. What year is it? LC or AC? Morini, Piaggio or Minarelli?

I worked on my SR50 and got it back together. Rode it around and tried to stay off full throttle, it was impossible. Came home put the sticker on the tag for the Vespa 250GTS, aired up the tires and went for a ride on it. Lets just say I stayed off full throttle and saw 65 indicated. It is a nice beast and looks good doing it.

Replaced the ignition switch on my new-to-me Bintelli, which also seems to have somehow fixed a short in the wiring connecting the starter and kill switches to the wiring harness. A two-fer, though I know the short will reappear at some point. I have the 47cc bbk sitting on my shelf, impatiently waiting for me. I am impatiently waiting for the arthritis pain to go down enough for me to get down and dirty, but be able to get back up again, lol.
