Had many vespas , from 1951-2005 . Restored more then a few. As far as the vintage models the styling was good , engines were such a simple design a kid could rebuild one. So basic they dont even use a head gasket. Only a smear of grease for sealing. Easily modded had put polini etc. Cyl. Kits for they were originally slow piston ported 2t,s. 3-4 speed manual gearboxes made takeoff a blast. Now for modern 4t models great fit , smooth & powerful. Sorry for rambling ,, but ive been a vespa/lambretta junkie for over 30 years. But on the down side parts are not easily found & will cost you plenty. But still mostly made of steel vs plastic. My work sceduly in the last few years prohibits me from doing restoration projects. As well as the economy limits my toys. But my china scoots keep me happy & way more affordable... I can mod up 3 new tao tao's for the price of a used tired vespa.

What's so special about them? Personally, I don't care much for the Vintage stuff - no battery and 6 vdc No thanks. Modern Vespa, that's a horse of a different color ( Wizard of OZ ref.) How about a 250cc fuel injected liquid cooled engine for starts. Comfort? Yea, the seat to grip ratio built for a full size Anglo like me. How about insurance coverage based on NADA up-to-date market / value data on any year & model? Sorry, I tend to babble.

The modern Vespa Et2 is on my list as a scoot I'd love to have/modify. They run the Piaggio 2t engine!

Arguably the best scooters ever made. I love them. Doesn't matter to me what year they were made.

I just rode behind one. Up and down some hills. Had some pretty good torque uphill, and I know he wasn't wot. I was wondering what size it was cause the cvt looked like the size of a 150. So I pulled up next to the guy and asked if it was a 150. He said NO... it was a 300. I was like wow... The scooter was only slightly bigger than mine and I have a 90cc engine on a 50cc stock frame. So Vespas definetley have that going for them.
