I'm running an aprilia rally 50 and i think i'm hitting up against the rev limiter. can anyone help me figure out which wire is for the rev limiter? i'm considering just replacing the stock cdi with a perf model but moneys kinda limited, and i'm not sure which 1 will work best with my stock minirelli setup. if anyone could give me a hand figuring this out i would greatly appreciate it.

I've been lucky and never owned a scoot limited by the CDI. I have heard others offer good methods for figuring out which wire is a limiter when you are unsure however. The best method I have heard is to remove one wire at a time. Don't cut the wire, but rather carefully remove it's pin from the harness. If the scooter starts, runs, and the kill switch and ignition switch still function, give it a try and see if the rev limit is gone. If it fails to do any of the afore mentioned, replace the wire and move on to the next.

well i tried the process of elimination on my cdi trying to figure out which wire was for the rev limiter with no luck, not sure it even has 1. all 5 wires on the cdi are accounted for. BUT while in the process though i double checked the exhaust for any restriction and found it, removed it and got a little more top speed out of it so i'm happy ;D!!! now on to getting the bbk ordered and installed (:drool:ing). i shouldn't have to rejet the carb just by opening up the exhaust should i? has even better launch now than it did so i'm not sure.

Good job finding it. I think you'll be OK, but it never hurts to take a look at the spark plug to see if it looks lean. o do it right, you'd need to install a new plug and check it after a WOT run.

run it about 3-5 miles and done that and came out with a light brown plug. ok? always read that a white plugs running lean, black running rich and almost any shade of brown ok.

With 2Ts you want a fairly dark colored plug. Like a caramel color.
The peg leg is probably emissions.

well i installed a new polini clutch and bell i bought from 2strokd and got a little better over all performance. having a hard time tellin a difference between the stock 6g rollers and the 5.5g ones i got from 2strokd. they both launch good but 5.5 seems to get a little better top speed so i'm gonna run them for awhile and see how it does on a day when its not so windy. i'm quite happy with the polini, thanks 2strokd. tried to post a pic but not sure if it will work or not.

I am glad your are happy with the clutch shakerdriver :thumb: ! Like i said before, if you plan on putting a BBK and or pipe on soon anymore tuning is pretty much pointless. I do have more if you need em tho. Glad it helped

Well thank you for the products, the advise, and the compliment on the rally. I think I'm gonna hold off till I get the bbk and try to get the pipe pretty soon as well. I did notice when I came back from my dads house awhile ago that I was able to get up to about 44mph ;D. His street has trees lining both sides so it cut down on the wind. Not bad for a stock engine, perf clutch, stock pipe and and my 360lbs body. Can't wait to see what the bbk will do for it. I'm working on getting the suggested photo problem delt with so I can post the build up, but till I can get my phone to accept the software I'll just have to keep using words.
