This is a benifit ride to celebrate the life of a great father, friend and relative who lost his life way too early,my Uncle and friend,Tommy West.He was a good man that would lend a hand to anyone in need. He often donated money to the Thurnont Little League so that kids could play even when the parents could not afford it. This is our 5th year doing this ride. We also do a motorcycle ride. The rides are set up like a poker run for the scooters and the motorcycles. There will be food and drink available. Also, there are 50/50 drawings at each stop.T he rides are rain or shine. We have been able to donate to many local charities in the memory of Tommy. Please come and join us for the scooter ride on August 23 and/or the motorcycle ride on September 6.Donation is $30 for riders and $25 for passengers. The registration is 9:30 am until 10:30 am at the Thurmont American Legion pavillion behind the post office on Water Street. We will be departing at 10:45 am. Come and join us for a day of fun and great memories. For more info contact:Billy Newcomer at (301)241-3765,Johnny West at (240)315-8216 or visit the website at: www.tommywestmemorialfund.org. Thanks

I'm on the other side of MD on the eastern shore and when I think of a scooter group ride anywhere but maybe the beach I figure maybe 4-5 scooters would show up. I was pleasantly surprised to see you guys get such a big turnout from watching a vid Tommy Thunder of Scootertronics posted ( see it HERE). I hope you have an even bigger ride this year. Sounds like a great cause.

Thanks, Brent. The first year,we had 105 scooters but the numbers have went down due to the law changes that took effect in 10/2012. It is a shame because a lot of the riders sold their scooters due paying for insurance and tag and sticker fees.We are reaching out to fellow riders to help support our cause. I really would hate to see our ride cancelled due to lack of riders. It really is a good time.We usually ride anywhere between 60 and 80 miles and have about 5 stops along the way with a picnic lunch in the middle. There is also a meal at the end of the ride. Please spread the word. Thanks again.
