I am thinking about how i would replace the bearings in the gy6 gear box without spending $70 on a puller set. The only problem i can see with this idea would be that there would only be two pieces of metal underneath at either side of the bearing to pull it instead of the entire bottom of the bearing being supported, would this still work if i used a heat gun and don't need to bearings to survive? It looks like a pain in the ass the make so if there are any better ideas please tell me. I drew this picture of the puller idea in ms paint, sorry if it's hard to understand: As you can see it would just be two flat, pieces of metal and the bottoms would be shaped with an angle grinder so they could slide under the bearing a little bit. The metal pieces would also have to be very narrow at the end so they could fit in the center of the bearing. I got the idea from this little puller but i doubt this would fit in the bearing hole: www.ebay.com/itm/New-60mm-Bearing-Gear-Puller-Double-Jaw-Remover-Tool-Set-for-Motorcycle-/181471050595?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a40847b63

Bearings can be hard to pull sometimes even with a good puller. I sometimes weld a piece of threaded rod to the center bearing race, and use a square tube with a hole drilled through it to span the cases. Then its just a matter of tightening a nut on the threaded rod to pull the bearing out.

Have you checked local auto parts stores? You may be able to get a puller via loaner tool programs. Have to pay up front, but get the money back as long as the tool is returned as lent. You could prob use a credit card and never have money leave your pocket with a quick return. This is common in the US at least.

I'm not sure if there are blind hole bearing pullers for hire here but it would cost me $40 to rent an electric impact wrench for 1 day from most places here so i imagine the puller hire price would be just as high. I wish these simple tools weren't so overpriced.

Yea i had a look online for the concrete anchors before i posted this but i couldn't find any. Might have a look tomorrow for some. That grease method looks promising though. I've got enough gear oil to fill the box 4 times so i suppose if it doesn't work i can always just put it back together and try another method.

I'm not sure gear oil will be thick enough. You'd have to have a good seal between the inside of the bearing and whatever you used to pack it in.
