I havent had it to top speed yet. And yes its a stock crank.. How did you know, just a guess? Under 9,000RPM at 50+ with 13:55,s is great man! In fact im still not sure how i am getting these results with a stock CVT? lol Exactly what I'm looking for! This will satisfy me.. for awhile

Shortcase scooter gears should be around 11:1. Brent used scooter gears in a retro with a Polaris 90 and got in the high 50s with a small 10 inch tire. With the tall 12 inch you should be OK for 55 to 60. You could always go with atv gears later if you needed to Sent from my SPH-L720 using proboards Exactly my plan. Thanks Moofus!

My first scoot was a Vento zip r3i. It was a fun little scoot with 12" wheels.

Not exactly sure what the deal is here, but when I was putting my AIR50 gearbox back together, every time I put the washer back in the gearbox would be too tight and not rotate freely when I torqued the bolts. Gasket in place. I ended up leaving that washer out and wow what a difference! Everything seems so smooth now and I even gained about 2mph top end (haven't GPS'd it). I don't hear/feel any play or anything strange.. hope all goes well without it, sure acts better!

Us 90cc guys were talking a while back and felt that an 11 rear ratio would likely be the best for the 90 stuff because the 13 is too low and the 10 is a bit slow on drag race starts...Since you can run a full size 12" rear, then you should be happy with the stock short case 11 ratio...

What washer are you talking about Niz? The one behind the intermediate shaft(large primary, small secondary)?

I wouldnt really suggest 13:5 gears, sorry if i misslead you. I was just kinda impressed by the RPM/speed i was getting with them. Once you start making any kind of power those gears will be way too short. The engine in my scoot would probably do much better with a taller gear.
The gears from the Zip should fit.

Some need the shims some dont. One way ive found if they need it or not is to literally shake the engine back and forth when the bolts are snug, and without the shims in. If you hear that gear clacking back and forth you might need the shim Otherwise if its too tight and the wheel spins like the brakes are on leave the shim or shims out. Its not all that uncommon to see them too tight from the factory, Ive seen them too tight, too much oil, too little oil, trans missing snap rings or even bearings from the factory.

Cool- little things like that worry me when I'm not sure I've made the right decision. Thank you! I guess I never really payed much attention to how smoothly the gearbox was turning. Just to check for any strange noises etc. when I check the gear oil. I can you this baby is smooooth now. I did just GPS on my way home for lunch and sure enough 2mph gain in speed! My speedo is now saying 55 when I used to top out at about 51- on the scoot speedo. GPS confirmed 45mph At 6900RPM. whoo baby if I can get the revs up with the 90 and a pipe- with 11:1 gears too... wow I'm gonna be thrilled!

What washer are you talking about Niz? The one behind the intermediate shaft(large primary, small secondary)? Yes the washer on the "middle" gear. Sorry I don't know the technical name for it. Not the output shaft that the wheel bolts to, and not the gear coming from the clutch- the middle one that connects the two. Is this the secondary?

Oh no worries 2strokd. I'm just glad to hear your experiences and opinions with different gear ratios. Shoot, I'm hitting 45mph with a practically stock 49cc (75MJ instead of 68MJ and fiberglass reeds) at 6800-6900 RPM's -with my modified "mini over-range" variator with 13.5:1 gears... The 90cc with taller gears is going to make me a very happy camper

I should be picking up the Vento Zip R3i turbocam either tonight or maybe Friday night.... I will finally be able to get this 90cc show on the road! Also, I found a bit of scarring on the 50mm piston, but the cylinder and rings seem ok. I will be ordering the 50mm piston and rings from Partsforscooters on Fri. when I get paid- I will post pics after work tonight of the damage I found on the piston and what I did to repair it- although I guess it doesn't really matter since I'm replacing the piston and rings regardless. I just think it's cool that I can get opinions from you exprienced fellas and see if you would've salvaged that piston or not... As always Thanks guys for everything!

Now I'm just curious/worried about what Moofus was saying about the Adly stator- hopefully it doesn't turn into a big headache. On the bright side- with a parts scoot I'll have extra goodies to use without tearing apart my current Minarelli too much... I'm wondering what to do with my 49cc motor I'll be swapping out of my AIR? Are there peeps on here looking for complete strong running Minarelli's? Hmmm... Moofus??

Keep it for a future build. It's nice to have a case to build without being w/o your scoot.

I concur sir- I'm hoping I can make contact with the seller and it's still available. On a side note- the parts "skeedr" is now $75... Check out the difference between a stock 788-17-28 belt vs. this Adly belt. Crazy. Moofus is right- this weird hybrid short/long Adly motor is unique to say the least! I found this belt size- it's 878 17 28
