Needle position can affect high throttle openings, but usually it's a small effect if you can tell the difference.

Needle position can affect high throttle openings, but usually it's a small effect if you can tell the difference. When I did this, my intentions were to clean and rebuild the carb. Turns out the rebuild kit I got was wrong so I ended up not using any of it. Even the needle was different. Maybe not the size (I should have compared better) but the taper of the needle was more of a drastic taper towards the end than a gradual taper from say just above the middle to the end. So I wasn't sure on using it, plus the kit came with no clips. My only safe option was to move the clip to where I put it. Honestly, I can't tell the difference. Not because there was none, more so because I am not familiar with these engines/designs enough to know the difference. I've been tempted to get a new carb just so I know I'm starting fresh and right, but I'm told not to bother as this one (Mikuni) is perfect. I need to measure the ID of the throat too I think.

Curious about what gears I have now. Seems that will be the final piece to the puzzle I suppose. I know my ratio from bell to tire is roughly 13.5:1.

Primaries 13/52 secondaries 13/44 Ah... That tells me... Not a whole lot lol. I haven't done enough reading on the gearing I guess so I don't know where to go from here or what that really means I guess. But thanks!

If you were to put a set of 14/42 primaries in your ratio would then be 10.155:1. Closer to the good 10:13:1 gears the Tritons have and recommended.

Can they be purchased aftermarket or am I looking for a certain scoot to tear apart? Keep in mind I'm sure this will be further down the road.

Aftermarket. From the same place you got your pipe.

I threw my back out this weekend AGAIN so I haven't touched either scoot since. I still have to put the CVT back on, but I'm thinking of bringing the weights down in the Vari back to 5.5g instead of the straight 6g. That will bring the RPM back up a little I suppose.
Other than that, I'm waiting on parts. BBK should be here tomorrow, PIP still on backorder and I have a ton of gasket goop and such on the way. Maybe this weekend I'll start removing plastics and such around the engine. Since I'll be in and out of this thing I figure it will be best to keep it exposed for quick and easy access.

Just pull the seat bucket on that big thing. You'll have more than enough room to get to the 4 head bolts and you won't have to worry about breaking the brittle plastics.

But I'm curious to see what she looks like half naked! Isn't that every man? HAH! Besides, I can't keep bending to work on it so I figure if I lose the plastic I can reach from the sides sitting down. This back crap I'm going through is killing me.

So some parts came in today. YAY! Internet is too slow to post pics right now.
Got the BBK from Scooter-ATV, looks to be cast iron? It most definitely isn't light! Now I need to order the wrist pin bearing. Ugh.
Also got the BBK for the 4t from Valley Scooters and a pair of BA20D headlight bulbs for the M1. They're the 45/45w regular bulbs from Bulbtown.
I've got a doctors appointment in the morning for my back to see if I'm dealing with crappy muscle pain or if I did something to my back/spine. Been hurting the last two weeks and I hate it. I want to work on this thing and ride! The sad part is I can ride just fine the way my back is, I just get do any work on it right now and I want to see what the doctor says.
By this weekend, I should have all the gasket / sealant materials I need. Most are ordered off of eBay and I'm going to run to the store to get the rest.
All that's left now is the exhaust (it's on its way!) and I need to probably order some more weights to play with. I may grab some heavier rollers for now and just use them for tuning purposes, but eventually I want to get some sliders. I just can't buy multiple sets of them at $20 a set, that adds up and I want to be sure to have a few weights around so I can dial it in right.
If my back does ok this weekend, I'll play with the CVT some more. I'm going to go back down to 5.5g weights and bring the RPM back up a little. I may also pull the carb and replace the jet so I have more confidence in tuning when the pipe comes. I'd also like to do some drilling into the CVT cover before I get it back on. I'm going to do pretty much what Brent did on his Project 49 CVT cover.
