Well it's only been about a week since I got the 90cc in my scoot and running great. There's not much to do to it now except maybe put a nice expansion pipe on, but they're so expensive... So I decided to tackle my first scoot flip! The wifey gave the green light so I'm jumping in with two feet. This is the scoot I found to flip on Craigslist. It's an Extreme Motors Expresso. Yeah, I've never heard of it either... AKA Vento Zip r3i turbocam, Keeway Hurricane and many other names. So why am I calling this the "Zip Flip"? Just wait and see.... It's pretty much exactly what the ad says it is; a 49cc 2T with exhaust manifold problems. I ended up paying $200 for it with the titl which I think isn't too bad. My exit plan here is to flip it quickly for $450. Realistically I'll probably end up taking $400 for it. So, a $200 profit.... that is, if I didn't need to buy any parts. As you can see, it's a little rough in areas. That's where this little beauty comes into play. It's the Vento Zip r3i turbocam that I bought as a parts bike to finish my 90cc install. I got it non-running and with no title for $50 from a guy who buys storage units. Again, a CL purchase. This thing really has paid for itself three times over as I've already raped a bunch of parts from it for my motor build (gears, brake parts, stator, flywheel, even the battered squish head etc.) and even sold some parts from it to help out members here with their projects. It's about to be raped again! lol. The plastics were in surprisingly good shape for a $50 parts scoot and will be making their way onto my new little flip, turning it from an obscure "Expresso" into a (hopefully) easier to sell Vento Zip! Here's how it looks now: I'm hoping to turn this flip out rather quickly as it mainly needs some cosmetic TLC and the cylinder's exhaust manifold problem rectified. On a side note it came with an extra used Mikuni clone "leader" carb. Zip Flip bonus! Updates should come pretty quickly on this one.....

Getting her stripped down nekked... boom chicka bow wow... Here's the problem that stumped the P.O. and compelled him to sell this scoot as "Parts, or Whatever"... And my soution... The original 49cc cylinder and (brand new non-squish) head that was in my Baccio VX50 scoot that got stolen. The head is still securely attached with copper spray and no head gasket. Cylinder isn't perfect, but it ran strong before I replaced it with a BBK and tight squish should give this little Zip some extra compression for a little extra uh, Zip!

You should easily double your money. Make sure to advertise it as a two stroke. Nice find!

This makes me wish the two scooters I just got were both 2ts. I wish I could swap parts over to the VX50 of mine. Good job dude! I thought about doing some flips and work but I'm too limited in space for storing part scoots and still lack lots of tools. Turns out I may have to get a spanner because I think I may have to replace my stator.

You'll need a flywheel puller and an impact. You need the puller to get it off the shaft after the nut is off.

I've got one. Stators are pretty easy to change. You might try a strap wrench to hold the variator to get the nut off the flywheel and then the 18v for the puller. Electronics are not my strong point so you'll have to figure out why you're not charging.

Electronics are not my strong point so you'll have to figure out why you're not charging. I'm pretty good with electronics and wiring usually, I'm not too worried about that. I have strap wrenches too. I have to diagnose it first. Either way, I'll probably replace both just to be safe. I just need to check and see which of both I'll need. I know Partsforscooters only shows 1 rectifier but also shows 3 stators. So I have to look and compare to be safe. Plus I'll probably yank out the oil pump while I'm down there too.

When I was working on the 90cc weirdo motor, the flywheel puller didn't fit and I used a gear puller from Autozone ($10) and it worked out good. Not the recommended way, but worked in a pinch.

Wow these small frame scoots are a PITA to work on. Took me 15 minutes just to get the cooling shrouds off. Got the motor back together and exhaust mounted. Ready to see how she runs shortly... Here's my "base gasket" Holy high compression! Put the head gasket back in... Much better! I took the CVT cover off to grease the sticking kick start. Looks like yet another CVT that has been untouched. Think I can get some more travel out of the variator?

I wouldn't worry about the belt travel. Don't forget the first rule in flips. They are flips. I rode the Zuma flip today for the first time other than around the neighborhood. Holy hell is it slow. Lol. I have a full long case with a 70cc Stage6 sport pro mkii under the bench and I damn near forgot that rule. Lol

He was riding in the bike lane with no plate on it like "IDGAF, I'm old so get lost!" lol. I was kind of inspired.

Took the 88 Main Jet out (what were they thinking??) and put a 70 in. Scoot runs great! It feels so little and slow I decided to let (hounded) my 11 year old daughter ride it. Scary! She took off on it with relative ease as she rides her little electric one like a stunter swerving around, jumping curbs etc. We've taken some long rides on our scoots together and she handled her first wipeout last year like a champ (it was in the sand). I've seen her recover from some near wipeouts- she's a pretty good rider! She took off down the road and I got nervous when she didn't turn around and come back. She starting going all the way around the block! This thing looks like Brent's T2 with zero body panels and no headlights or tail light and it was getting dusk.- she told me when we got back she had a hard time turning around in the street so she just went around the block. I took off on my scoot to chase after her and found her cruising up the street just fine whew! We scooted around the whole neighborhood together and at one point on a long straightaway we were doing 40! That little Zip moves with her tiny butt on it! We had fun and she said it was a little scary for her going that fast. Maybe tomorrow I can get some pics or vid of us cruising on the scoots. Zip runs pretty good!

My daughter already wanted me to get the parts zip running when I first brought it home. Now that we've rode these scoots together she's not gonna want me to sell it lol. I already told I shouldn't even be letting her ride it as it's quite illegal. I feel her pain getting a taste of some good power and having to go back to her little electric scoot. Oh well, maybe she'll let me over-volt it now.
