Yesterday my plug boot came off on the ride home from work. I just changed my coil, wire and boot to a Bando from partsforscooters. I thought I was getting a 2 prong like my stock one but it was a single. So I bolted it to the frame(only one side of the coil) and ran the coil ground wire to that bolt. The attachment in the boot is burning the plug threads causing it to become loose. I changed the plug and it happened again today. Here the plug threads.

Not sure if it's the cause of the problem, but when I got a new coil for the Baccio (the p.o. had installed a GY6 coil) I went from two prong to one. I left the (black wire i think) just dangling and plugged in the green one. Seems like i tried a few different combos but now I can't remember. I think it's the actual bolt holes of the coil that provide the ground and the extra wire is just unused.

Those threaded connectors have a nasty habit of wearing out quick. Use the thread on adapter for the plug, and an NGK boot. This will end your connection problems.

Mine won't run with a wire disconnected. I've had problems with the stock boots wearing out but this one is eating the plug and it was warm when I pulled it.

I'll try a different boot but has anyone experienced this scoring on the plug?

I've had so many threads damaged even using NGK threaded boots. Now I use the snap on boots and keep the end on the plug and I don't constantly have to worry about poor spark. When I rode a ton I was changing the threaded boots at least monthly. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/493/spark-plug-tips-bootsI've wired any of my 1 prong replacements with the hot side to the prong on the coil and put a ring terminal on the ground and attach it where the coil bolts to the frame.

I think Brent has had issues before with that type losing connection and failing. I imagine with the loose connection you have, and the high energy ignition, you could easily have arcing and melting like in your picture. Get the different style boot that uses the big tip that screws onto the plug tip.

Thanks Brent, that's how I wired the coil. This boot started damaging threads within 20 miles. I ordered an Ngk.
